Hey! Remember the days when people could get married? Don’t worry...I’m hopeful that those days will be back soon . Until then, I would like to share a pic of one of my personal favourite gowns that was taken from our very first look book shoot back in 2011 - her name was Vivienne Leigh, inspired by the classic movie Gone with the Wind. . . . I remember this day: it was a cold Saturday morning in January when we picked up model Nadine from Coxwell subway station and drove to the shoot location (my friend Sarah’s @ozyabet house). The look book was shot by a super talented 17 year old @alicexuephotography, and hair and makeup by super talent and icon @mylessexton . Throwing it back to this day 2 years ago in San Francisco - Happy Anniversary to Christopher and Johnny! ... Groomsmaid gowns designed and made by us! We thought that each girl would look amazing in a different style bodice that reflected their personalities and flattered their figures, while tying all 4 crisp off-white dresses together with the same style of skirt that featured a sexy but tasteful centre front slit. Oh this old thing? Just draped her! . . . I bought this leopard print satin a couple of months ago, and still haven’t figured out what to do with it yet. I’m contemplating making something for myself...any suggestions?? ... . . . Kendra came to us last year with a specific vision in mind for a custom wedding gown and over skirt: she needed to be able to dance! . . . As a Zumba instructor, figure skater and figure skating coach...the bride-to be needed to look and feel like a bride on her big day.... . . . We created a full tulle skirt in shades of ivory and blush to add impact to Kendra’s gown that featured a lace bodice embellished with Swarovski crystals, and a flowing georgette skirt. After the ceremony, the tulle skirt came off and she was able to get down with her handsome new husband and all of their guests (aka lead them all in a Zumba session! ). April 21, 2009 - 11 years ago tonight! I had to dive deep into the archives for this one! This pic was taken backstage at our very first runway show at @fashionarttoronto. Shout out to @triciahall for the styling! . . . I remember the weeks, days and moments leading up to this show! I will never forget the countless hours, sleepless nights and all the work that went into putting this collection together. It was far from perfect, but was definitely an important milestone on ...my journey. . . . What a lot of people don’t know is that all of the gowns were made from remnants and scraps of fabric that I had purchased from my former boss. Starting a business requires a lot of resources (aka dough, moulah, cashola), and back then my resources were extremely limited! I guess you could say my gowns back then were sustainable since they were all made from scraps lol. In any case, I just wanted to share a little bit of that history with all of you .
