At the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we pause to remember all those who have served and sacrificed. It is because of them we enjoy great freedoms. Lest we forget.

Thank God that others have already done the same for you. Holding a grudge will harm you more than it harms the offender. This is your opportunity to choose to forgive.

God's covenants are not equal relationships. God gives us much more than He ever plans to receive. He gives generously out of extravagant love - and He has promised this for a thousand generations. The covenants in the Old Testament all point to something bigger and better. They foreshadow the fulfilment of God's covenant of grace through Jesus: We bring our nothing, and He gives us everything. The scales are forever tipped in our favour.

Pause a moment and think about the people you influence. What’s their greatest need? How can you connect that need to Jesus?

Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage with great patience and teaching. 2 Timothy 4:2 (CSB) We have a lot to thank our pastors for, this year especially. 2020 has brought a lot of things that our pastors probably never prepared for, and they have stepped up time and again. Simple steps to encourage your pastor, this Pastor's Appreciation Month:... - Think about ways your pastor has demonstrated their faithfulness this year. Thank them for it specifically. - Ask your pastor how you can pray for them - Invest your energy into supporting their mission - Find ways to let them rest See more

No church is perfect. Are you looking for a church that checks all the boxes? Make sure your non-negotiables are rooted in the Bible, not just your personal opinion. The local church, wherever you call home, is where you have the opportunity to live out the gospel in community. Here’s the thing, though: community demands commitment - you can’t really have one without the other. But there’s nothing quite like belonging to a community centred around Christ. We will meet you with open arms and a safe place to land. The love of Jesus and the benefits of community do not change. As long as we are rooted in Christ, God will complete His good work in us.

Churches should be the most honest place in town, not the happiest place in town. - Walter Brueggemann You’re not always going to love hearing the sermons. The Word of God is able to uncover our deepest thoughts and souls. Pretty often, that's what your heart needs rather than a pep talk. "The Word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword... It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires." ( Hebrews 4:12) Sometimes it hurts. Always it helps us grow.

We’re all going to think things should be done differently, all the time. We all have different taste in music or opinions about potlucks or decor. Maybe our building is old or your least favourite song is someone else’s favourite or the coffee is too weak for you. The church can survive all of that But it won’t survive without love. For each other and our city, and most of all for Christ. Invest love into your church family, even when it’s hard.
