There have been some significant updates in regards to the Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy in recent days: www.canada.ca//rev/services/subsidy/emergency-wage-subsidy Important note: Although application for the subsidy commences on April 27, 2020, CRA has indicated that the first batch of applications will be processed on May 4, with payments beginning on May 5. As we expect applications up to May 3 will be processed at the same time, there should be no advantage to applyi...ng on the first day as opposed to later in the week. Make sure you understand the CEWS well before applying. https://www.churchpickard.com/

New: Canada Emergency Response Benefit The federal government has announced new details around federal financial help for people who have lost income due to COVID-19. The new Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) will provide $2,000 a month for four months for people who have lost their income because of COVID-19. The CERB combines two previously announced benefits to simplify the application process.... Canadians eligible for the benefit include, but are not limited to: Canadians who have lost their job. Canadians who are sick with COVID-19, or taking care of someone who is sick. Canadians who are quarantined. Working parents who must stay home without pay to care for sick children, sick elderly people, or children who are at home due to school closures. Canadians who have a job, but are not receiving income because of disruptions to their work. Self-employed individuals who are otherwise not eligible for employment insurance (EI). Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said an online application portal is expected to launch by April 6. He said applicants should receive their money within 10 days of signing up, which would be mid-April. https://www.canada.ca//introduces-canada-emergency-respons https://www.churchpickard.com/

To our value clients in response to COVID-19 This is in response to the status of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) that is currently occurring in Canada and Internationally. We have received many requests for information regarding the financial relief measures that the federal and provincial governments are implementing in order to help individuals and businesses through the COVID-19 outbreak.... Please note that we are following this closely as these measures are announced to the public, and will be posting links to relevant information here. ***Note that the individual tax filing due date has been deferred to June 1, 2020. However, if you expect to receive Canada Child Benefits or GST/Climate Action payments, CRA encourages you to file as early as possible to ensure you receive the correct enhanced entitlements.*** We are committed to maintaining a clean and safe environment for our clients and our staff. Although we are regularly cleaning our premises and have hand sanitizer available in our reception area, we do share the concern of attempting to stop the spread of the virus and therefore we strongly encourage you to use our alternative ways (fax or email) to submit your tax return information without a face-to-face visit. We have a drop box at our front door to hand in your records if it is too difficult to scan and email. We can forward documents to you for signature in the most convenient way for you. If you are experiencing a fever, cough, difficulty breathing, or have travelled or been in contact with individuals who have travelled outside of Canada, we request that for everyone’s safety, you arrange an alternative process as mentioned above. Our goal is to safely and successfully file your tax returns by June 1, 2020. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact the office. Government of B.C.
