Deaf and hard of hearing Ontarians have been abandoned by the very taxpayer-funded organization that is supposed to empower us the Canadian Hearing Society. Understand this we won’t go away! We won’t be silenced! We won’t be shut out! Join our fight today: https://www.gofundme.com/IanKeith
With 2019 around the corner, CIDHH commits to continuing our work to ensure that people who are Deaf, hard of hearing, their families and others, are fully included in the management, governance, and decision-making process of the CHS. We wish you a very happy holidays and thank you for standing with us!
For reasons that remain unclear, the CHS is becoming increasingly undemocratic, serving the interests of a privileged few, rather than the half a million members of the Deaf and hard of hearing community in Ontario. The unjust and unexplained action from the CHS has left many in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in Ontario wondering where to go for support for their children and family members who depend on the CHS for guidance. Help the CIDHH take all possible action...s to ensure CHS reverses its decision and once again returns to transparent governance, partnership with the community and accountability to taxpayers. www.cidhh.com
The CHS is an organization that receives substantial taxpayer funding from multiple Ontario ministries totaling approximately $22 million in 2017. The CIDHH finds the CHS be unaccountable, unjust and aggressively moving to shut out the Deaf and hard of hearing community inappropriate and inexplicable.
Two of our friends took a stand for the Deaf and hard of hearing community by filing legal claims against the CHS for shutting out our already marginalized community. Now they need our help. They are being unfairly targeted by CHS for standing up. ... We ask that you donate what you can, help those who have been fighting to help us: www.gofundme.com/iankeith
For 77 years, CHS has been a thriving, diverse organization, advocating for and representing the needs of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community sadly this has all come to an end. Approximately 530,000 Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals across Ontario have been stripped of their representation at the organization that is mandated to serve them. Learn more at www.cidhh.com
The courts have not endorsed the oppressive behaviour of the CHS. A judge simply ruled that CIDHH as an organization cannot act as a complainant. The fight to stand up for the Deaf and hard of hearing community continues. In an act of mean-spiritedness, CHS is seeking legal fees from the two individual applicants members of our community who have stepped up to fight for our rights. Help support those who aimed to support you: www.gofundme.com/iankeith
