I am excited to be hosting an educational evening where, alongside my guest speaker, Miles Derco, we will be providing advice around strategies to create a portfolio that will sustain your lifestyle in retirement, the importance of income planning and how to avoid common investment pitfalls. This free event will be held on Tuesday, November 26th, 2019, at 7 p.m. at 963 Henderson Highway. A huge thank you in advance to Shen Wu, from For Us Bakery, who will providing some delicious pastries for the evening!

I really wish the educational system provided a course in financial literacy, it's something I've always said. Being financially responsible, understanding how to save money and why it's important and an overall understanding of banking in general is a life skill that is just as important as knowing how to read and write. I am so proud that RBC has partnered with McGill University and the Globe and Mail to offer a FREE course called "McGill Personal Finance Essentials". This course is available to everyone and I encourage you all to make time, take the course and tell a friend! https://discover.rbcroyalbank.com/making-financial-literac/

Today, and everyday, we remember the men and women who have fought for our country.

I really enjoyed listening to Stu Kedwell's view on having an investment strategy that is filled with dividend paying stocks from a set of businesses that have a certain degree of stability to them, and how this strategy has enabled investment portfolio's to have both successful accumulation and efficient decumulation. This is a great podcast to listen to on your drive into work. https://www.rbcgam.com//amidst-volatile-markets-con/detail

Podcasts are truly a great way to get a lot of information on a variety of subjects. Here is a great one with RBC's very own Sarah Riopelle, portfolio manager for RBC Portfolio Solutions. She discusses home-country bias, the natural tendency of investors to invest the majority of their portfolios in domestic assets: https://www.rbcgam.com//podcasts/avoiding-home-cou/detail

Oh to be able to go back in time and tell your younger self not to do this, or go there or stop this and start that! What I wouldn't give to have listened to some of the wisdom my own parents or older siblings tried to pass onto me. But it's never too late to learn. Do the research, talk to a professional, have an idea of where you want to be in 5, 10, 20 years. It doesn't mean you have to stick to it because, well, life happens. But being prepared for something is better than nothing at all. https://discover.rbcroyalbank.com/financial-advice-for-my-/

Today I am thankful for my amazing son, my wonderful partner in life, my family, my friends and my health. What are you thankful for? Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

As the mother of a 9 year old boy and a woman who works in finance, I really enjoyed reading this article. I try to teach my son that any money he earns now, he should always save a portion of it. The message in this article simply put: all you need is time and discipline! The impact this will have on your children's future, perhaps even your own, can be monumental! https://discover.rbcroyalbank.com/young-smart-time-may-be-/
