Thank you, Jeanette Taylor! All of us at the Cortes Island Museum and Archives want to give Jeanette Taylor a standing ovation for her wonderful online presentation (January 30, 2021) about her newest book, Twin Islands, History and Legacy on the BC Coast. More than 50 people attended the talk and slide show: https://youtu.be/LWcN8kfXL9E... Jeanette, as many will already know, is an excellent historian, writer and speaker. She inspired all who attended, and the informal Q & A surfaced various stories of Twin Islands not covered in the comprehensive presentation.

Three photographs of Stuart Lambert getting his hair cut by his father, 1918. Outdoor haircuts by family members feels pretty relevant right now, just over 100 years later. Sending support out to everyone doing their part to keep our community as safe as possible during these trying times. We got this! Gloria Morrisette née Clemantine Godkin (19082013) emigrated to Canada from Tacoma with her parents and siblings in 1915. They settled on Hornby Island and later moved to Shusharte, a small settlement at the northern tip of Vancouver Island. In the 1930s, they moved to Manson’s Landing spending ten years there raising their family. Late...r in life, Gloria became a reporter for The Province and Vancouver Sun newspapers.
