Reporting to the Community of Practice on Ocean Data Management Facilitator, and taking direction from the CIOOS Executive Committee, the Project Manager is responsible for the overall national coordination of CIOOS. Some of CIOOS people are at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, for the AtlantOS initiative, towards an Ocean Observing System for the whole of the Atlantic. Des représentants de SIOOC sont à Paris, aux bureaux de l'UNESCO, pour le premier symposium international sur AtlantOS, une initiative de système d'observation de l'océan Atlantique dans son ensemble.

The initial phase of the Canadian Integrated Ocean Observing System #CIOOS is launched. This national ocean observation system will increase the availability of ocean data to Canadians, and inform science-based decision making. La phase initiale du Système intégré d’observation des océans du Canada #SIOOC est lancée. Ce système national augmentera la disponibilité des données océaniques, ainsi qu’outillera la prise de décision basée sur la science.
