Our education is focused on promoting health and well-being for our patients and surrounding community. We often take education for granted, as it is easily accessible in our community. Education offers children a ladder out of poverty and a path to a promising future. But about 265 million children and adolescents around the world do not have the opportunity to enter or complete school; 617 million children and adolescents cannot read and do basic math; less than 40% of girls in sub-Saharan Africa complete lower secondary school and some four million children and youth refugees are out of school.

The best part about hiking is that nearly anyone can do it, including families with children. You don’t have to be an experienced hiker or have ever even hiked before. Whatever your experience level, before you set out it’s important that you are aware of the most common hiking injuries as well as how to prevent and treat them. 1. Correct sitting position: 1. Sit up with your back straight and your shoulders back. Your buttocks should touch the back of your chair. 2. You can utilize Dr. Michael's advice to roll a small towel and place it in the curve of your lower back to provide extra support! 3. Distribute your body weight evenly on both hips.... Bend your knees at a right angle. Keep your knees even with or slightly higher than your hips. (Use a foot rest or stool if necessary.) 4. Keep your feet flat on the floor. 5. Try to avoid sitting in the same position for more than 30 minutes. 6. When standing up from the sitting position, move to the front of the chair. Stand up by straightening your legs. Avoid bending forward at your waist. See more

Reflexology is known to be of use for both chronic and acute back pain, but it is also good for reducing stress, which can sometimes exacerbate people’s perception of pain. The neuromatrix theory highlights that reflexology can produce pain relief and suggests that pain is a subjective experience created by your brain. The brain does this in response to the sensory experience of pain, but it can also work independently of sensory input and create pain in response to emotional or cognitive factors. Thus things that influence the brain, such as your mood or external factors like stress can also affect your experience of pain. According to this theory, reflexology may reduce pain by reducing stress and improving mood. Our in house reflexologist, Donna, is excellent and provides a holistic approach to pain treatment!

Chiropractors know that keeping your body moving is important. As spine, muscle, and nervous system experts, they have shared a few important reasons for you to stay active: (long read BUT worth it ) 1) It helps relieve low back pain Exercise, especially core strengthening, has been shown to be very effective in improving the function of your back. 2) It improves bone health Current evidence shows that exercise can increase bone ... density and decrease the risk of falls and fractures in the elderly. Studies have also shown that exercise is comparable to medication in improving the day to day functioning of people with osteoarthritis. 3) It helps prevent obesity Obesity is often linked to many life-threatening illnesses (e.g., diabetes or high blood pressure). There is strong evidence that exercise is important for preventing weight gain as well as keeping your weight stable after you’ve shed some pounds. 4) It helps improve your mental health Social isolation during this pandemic has made people feel anxious and stressed. Physical exercise can have a positive effect in the long-term management of psychological symptoms, including depression, anxiety, and chronic stress! 5) It helps manage diabetes Diabetes affects approximately 2.5 million Canadians, with over 200,000 cases being diagnosed every year. 6) It prevents your risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease.
