Citizens for Public Justice 27.03.2021

CPJ is now accepting applications for our 2021-2022 Public Justice Internship Program! For one year, from September 2021 to August 2022, an intern will assist CPJ in our work on climate justice, refugee rights or poverty in Canada, or some combination of the three. Apply now for this one-year, paid internship with CPJ. The application deadline is March 29, 2021.

CPJ's Stephen Kaduuli published an op-ed in The Hill Times yesterday: "The flow of refugee arrivals to Canada has slowed to a trickle. Yet, it is possible for Canada to both contain the virus and to continue resettling refugees." Refugee sponsors have advocated for an exemption to the travel restrictions for all refugees regardless of their approval date. ... Private sponsors are ready to continue working to welcome refugees. Good news! The federal government announced that it will cover the costs of mandatory hotel quarantines and COVID-19 testing for newly arriving refugees. CPJ's Stephen Kaduuli raised this issue back in January when the new travel rules were announced. Policies like this are not just a matter of generosity, but Canada's legal and global obligation to provide protection to refugees.
