NOTICE TO ALL ATV-SIDE BY SIDE RIDERS We have been advised that work will commence sometime in August to replace the deteriorating wooden fish ladder at Grand L...ake. This fish ladder is located at the brook where it flows into Grand Lake close to the railroad tracks at the VJ Plant. The work will cause some minor inconveniences to the ATV traffic in the area of the gravel access road coming in from the Race Track entrance road. As well it is expected that there will at times be some major truck and crane equipment immediately near the dam and fish ladder. The timing of the work is expected to be in August and will run into September. Timing is dependent on the weather and the contract award date. Nova Scotia Lands is of the belief that there will be very few times when all access is restricted. They will work with the contractor to ensure the traffic flow interruptions are minimized. But, there well may be times when the work will prevent riders from full access. Riders are requested to use the utmost care while this work is being carried out. Additionally, we are very fortunate to have the privilege to be able to use this area on a regular basis. Therefore, the cooperation of all Riders is requested so that we do not lose any privileges we have relating to travel in this or any other area. April 3, 2020 To: ALL Nova Scotia Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) users From: Aaron Daye, Trail & OHV Program Administrator Nova Scotia Department of Lands... and Forestry Provincial directives to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 apply to all off highway vehicle users. Nova Scotians are required to practice social distancing and limit gatherings to no more than five people. This direction will remain in place for the duration of the state of emergency unless otherwise announced. We understand this is tough time for people. Ultimately, it is for the health and safety of our families and communities and everyone has a part to play. Q&As: 1. Are provincial OHV trails open? Trails within the provincial park system are closed. It would be best to check with your community trail group on whether your local trail is open. If you dont have symptoms and you havent been told to self-isolate, adhering to the public health orders and directives, you can access open trails in your immediate area, including open OHV trails. Do not drive to a trail, do not access OHV trail illegally and do not trailer your OHV and unload at a trail head. 2. How do I comply with public health directives? With the current state of emergency around COVID-19, its now more important than ever for Nova Scotians to strictly adhere to the public health orders and directives maintain a physical distance of two metres or six feet from others, limit gatherings to no more than five people and stay at home as much as possible. If leaving your home, it should be for exercise or to access essential services or items, not to socialize with neighbors and friends. 3. Can I ride my OHV on or near my property? Yes, you can ride your OHV on your own property if you can maintain social distance among riders.
