The number of COVID-19 cases in Edmonton is rising sharply so Dr. Hinshaw has introduced new voluntary measures to slow the spread of the virus. New voluntary measures: Limit your social and family gatherings to no more than 15 people.... Wear non-medical masks in all indoor work settings, except when alone in workspaces such as offices or cubicles where you can be safely distanced from others or an appropriate barrier is in place Limit your number of cohorts to no more than 3 (a core/household cohort, a school/work cohort, and one additional sport, social or other cohort). Social and family gatherings are a key driver in the increase of COVID numbers in the Edmonton zone which is why these groups are being targeted with these voluntary measures. Let’s do our part to slow the spread and look out for each other. 2020 was a significant year for the Yellowhead Trail Freeway Conversion Program. The first major construction work on Yellowhead Trail began in May with the widening of Yellowhead Trail from 61 Street to the North Saskatchewan River. Converting Yellowhead Trail to a freeway with three lanes of free-flowing traffic in each direction takes a lot of coordination to minimize traffic disruptions to the public. Currently somewhere between 63,000 to 81,000 vehicles use the Yellowh...ead Trail every day. In the next 20 years, that number is expected to jump from between 87,000 to 155,000 vehicles using the freeway per day. Work on East Widening is anticipated to finish in 2021.
