In honour of the debut of 'Virtual Simon' for this year's virtual Coldest Night of the Year event - this week's feature is our Executive Director, and favourite boss, Simon Gau. Date started: 2011 at Broadway Church... 2018 as Executive Director at CityReach How/Why you got involved: As the Community Pastor at Broadway Church, I get to oversee community outreach initiatives and have worked side by side with CityReach since 2011. In 2018 CityReach was looking for a new Executive Director and I was offered the position. What is your favourite thing about what you get to do at CityReach: I get to use my gifts and talents to serve others by providing leadership at CityReach. This team is incredibly hard-working and everyone is working together for the same goal to help people prosper! When you’re not here, what do you like to do: Family is so important to me. I love hanging out with my 3 kids and wife, Ashlee. Since the pandemic we’ve done A LOT of family walks and bike rides. Ashlee and I play tennis and most recently, SPIKEBALL! What is something fun or surprising about you: I’m a bit of a board game geek! Ashlee and I fell in love while playing Settlers Of Catan. We have since moved on to Stone Age and still play together every week. And yes, she’s better than me! What would you tell someone thinking of getting involved here: Careful, CityReach will steal your heart! Volunteering at CityReach is incredibly fulfilling and fun. Being a part of a team who is making a real difference and belonging to something bigger than yourself is so rewarding. You’re going to love it! What does it mean to you that We are in the hope business?: Hope isn’t just for today, or even for tomorrow The kind of hope that we want to give, is for FOREVER! Ps.
