We are also experiencing higher than normal wait times. Our hospital operates on a triage basis. Thank you for your continued understanding while we care for those pets in need of immediate medical attention.
Please keep your pets safe and cool during this hot weather. It is important to immediately bring the pet to see your veterinarian following an episode of heat exhaustion.
Look at that smile!
Blue-green algae thrives during hot seasons and can be found in non-flowing water including rivers, pools and decorative ponds. It makes the water look murky like pea soup or as if paint has been poured into it. Blue-green algae can FATALLY POISON all types of pets, but it’s especially harmful to dogs. There is NO antidote for the toxins that it produces. Immediate veterinary care is crucial. How to Protect Your Pet: - If you see water with algae blooms, do not allow your dog... to swim in it or to drink it. - If your pet comes into contact with the algae, rinse them with fresh water, take them to your veterinary team, and call your Pet Poison Helpline right away. - Know the symptoms of poisoning: difficulty breathing, lethargy, vomiting, seizures, convulsions, drooling. And call 250-933-0913
