Winterising a la Nunavut style - R40 in the attic and crawl space floor, R20 in the walls - end walls with windows (under gable) are doubled so R28 total - the sloped ceilings require high density extruded polystyrene still to come. Had to tear out the existing lath and plaster and reframe the knee wall from 2x3 @ 16" oc to 2x6 @ 24" oc. Also had to attach 2x2 lumber to the existing roof rafters to accommodate the foam insulation and air space. After nearly 80 years of empty walls this winter ought to be cozy with a much lower heating bill.
