Dont Drink and Drive! Find a safe way home this Christmas!
From mygrandeprairienow article The Clairmont Arena will be closed until at least the end of January due to safety concerns. On December 3rd, the Clairmont &... District Agricultural Society closed the rink after discovering a leaky roof. Society President Cindy Trudel says it was really hard to make the call, especially now with hockey, ringette and public skating going on. I havent slept in probably five days, its been very emotional Ill tell you, Ive done a lot of tough things in my life but that was tough. Trudel says they have been working hard to make sure the teams and people who use the arena have another place to go. Weve done our utmost best to try and get them into other facilities. Our Arena manager Clint Froehlick has been working non-stop to notify everybody and get them set up somewhere else. Despite the tough time, Trudel says the silver lining in all this is that theyve had people reach out and ask them how they can help including the Source Energy Arena & Recreation Centre in Wembley which has offered its rink up to displaced users looking for ice time. She says she appreciates everything people can offer and adds that for those looking to help, money is key. Money is always a good thing for a non-profit. Were working very closely with the county right now trying to figure out what our next steps are going to be. We have a fantastic board on the Ag society right now and well be doing a lot of fundraising in the next little while. The County is currently looking at getting a quote for an engineering study on the arena, which Council will review on December 9th. If the work is approved, they expect to have the engineers report done by mid-January 2020. See more

Do you have the time to spare a couple of hours to help support the Clairmont and District Agricultural Society? The Clairmont Community, Community Hall and Adventure Slash & Skate Park are all owned and operated 100% by the Clairmont Ag Society, a non-profit organization. To keep these facilities well maintained and running, we rely on grants, donations and the support of volunteers! We have monthly meetings to discuss what goes on behind the scenes. We also participate in... Bingos, Casinos and other fundraisers to help raise money for our organization. Each of these activities require volunteers to spare a couple hours to make this possible. On Saturday September 14th, during the Annual Fall Fair, we will have a booth set up in the Clairmont German Canadian Hall, providing the Community with information about the Clairmont Ag Society as well as information on board member and volunteer recruitment. Dont be shy, stop on by! If anyone is interested in being a volunteer and want to make a difference for our community, support our organization and be a a part of making change for every individual in the area, please contact us! We hope to see a few extra smiling faces to our Ag Society Family! Contact: [email protected] Call or text Sherina: 780-402-4447
