Latest from Colton LeBlanc, MLA for Argyle-Barrington #nspoli #codecritical #nspc

Clare PC Association 10.03.2021

Paramedics have been sounding the alarm for what they call #CodeCritical. Code Critical describes a situation of low or no ambulance coverage in a region. This ...leads to an increase in wait times for paramedics to arrive at the scene. In the last five days, there have been at least 40 #codecritical alerts issued by the paramedic union. Every second counts, says Colton LeBlanc, MLA for Argyle-Barrington, a paramedic by trade. Nova Scotia's broken ambulance system is preventing our paramedics from providing critical pre-hospital emergency services. The health and safety of Nova Scotians continue to be put at jeopardy." #nspc #nspoli

Statement from Karla MacFarlane, MLA Pictou West, PC Critic Advisory Council on the Status of Women --- December 6, 1989 is a day we will never forget.... It marks the anniversary of the massacre at L’École Polytechnique in Montreal. We remember these 14 women; these smart, talented women who were targeted and gunned down, simply for being women. It is a dark chapter in Canada’s history. This date is also a reminder of all women who have gone missing, been murdered or have experienced gender-based violence. Their stories and loss haunt me. However, they also push me as an elected official to learn and strive to help change the stories of every aspiring young woman who wants to better our society. I acknowledge that we have made progress since 1989. But we have a very long way to go and it will take all of us, working together. I applaud the inclusion of gender-based violence in the upcoming Public Inquiry into the Portapique mass shooting. I hope that the work done there turns into action and policy. We all want to live in communities free from violence or where an individual’s gender does not make them a target. On this National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, I stand more committed than ever before to promoting these ideals, and eradicating violence against women.
