Hey there fellow Lion members, friends. So sorry it has been a long time for a post and update. 1st hope everyone is staying safe and do what u all can to address these challenging times. With that we have had to make adjustments to our mtgs., responses to financial requests, etc. Noteworthy despite return to twice a month mtgs. to Cl. Community Centre (2nd and 4th Weds.), we recently had to cancel the last mtg. due to a spike in CO-VID 19 and hope to return on Nov. 25th. So ...we encourage anyone interested to join. We seen a few changes and sadly passing/losses of some special people and members over recent months. As far as winners for Trip of Month like to announce for Oct. 14/2020 draws of gift certificates to ticket #433 to Heather Hamlyn (Roy's Place) and for IGA gift certificate ticket #368 to Greg Thompson. For Oct 28th. draw-Trip to Puerto Vallarta goes ticket #249 Andy and Ramona Hart. For Nov 11/2020 draws of gift certificate for Douro's goes to ticket #342 Gwen Rhode and Janet Fashions ticket # 400 Walt and Murray Lane. Congrats to all. On a finally note if there is a need for any financial requests, we will do address however with issues facing our financial status if there is a Society number that would use access "gaming money" from the Casinos we have been able to do over the recent years. Finally and knowing it has been a long time since our last post. so where does one begin but to give 1st recognition to these unfortunate and presidential times, which I am sure all of us of tired of hearing and knowing. Yet there is need to acknowledge as all are not immune to challenges and changes in life. So is this where we need to start as the Cl. Lions club has been fortunate and blessed over the years in attending to our motto "We serve" and thus a need to acknowledge... our own members who took this motto seriously and from their heart, and especially speaking to our members who passed on in recent months to which our community may already know and what contributions they gave over their years. Thus we wish to acknowledge Doug Fletcher, Marcus Heck, Butch Boucher and Jon Mathews and thank for their commitment, devotion and true the motto to which spoke of. God bless to all your loved ones, friends and a heartfelt thank you from your fellow Lions. As far as a update, we had a couple mtgs. in recent months at various locations and most recently back at the community centre with restrictions in numbers, spacing etc. It was nice to see some of the members again and more importantly a desire to get back to work. That being said wish to thank for all of you who bought Tip of Month tickets and wish you all best of luck as know this is our number 1 fundraiser. Congrats to recent winners. Consequently with CO-VID has brought a need to become creative to future fundraising efforts and to contribute to the community's needs. That being said we have been able to continue to cater with safety precautions and encourage anyone or groups to continue to send in any requests to Don Leonard (B.B.Q. chair). In regards to meetings that will continue twice a month (2nd. and 4 th. Wed. at the Community with 25 max in attendance we wish again invite anyone interested. The Claresholm Lions Club has for many years run a program whereby we loan out walkers, scooters, wheelchairs and some other mobility aids to local residents who are in need of such items. We strictly work with donated equipment, and are therefor very grateful for donations that have been made to our Club. Without these donations we would not be able to run this program, and even now we sometimes are unable to fulfill requests because of lack of equipment. Therefor, new dona...tions are most gratefully accepted. Most recently we received an ACORN stair-lift as a donation. This stair-lift is in very nice conditions, and it would fit a 15' long straight stairway. Currently we do not know of anyone who may need this lift, so if anyone out there knows of a person who could benefit from this, please contact us at [email protected] .
