2020 YEAR IN REVIEW (12/12) In December: I’ve been working on a lot of non-music projects lately - finishing my psychology degree at Mount Allison, applying to grad schools, and prepping for a move to a new place in Halifax. So, not a lot of solo stuff happened in December. But, one extremely cool release did take place, which was Against the Grain Theatre’s Messiah/Complex! ... Messiah/Complex is a reimagining of Handel’s Messiah, with soloists from all across the country in settings you’ve never watched a performance in before - it’s a gorgeous and compelling film, and I was so proud to be a part of it. The Canadian choral community remains creative and resilient throughout all that’s happened this year, and I think Messiah/Complex was a testament to this resilient spirit. You can find the New York Times’ review of the show below. It was an absolutely unprecedented year, with twists and turns that nobody could have predicted. But looking back on 2020, I feel good knowing that I and everyone in my life - and the Canadian music community, especially - made the absolute most of it. Here’s to 2020, and here’s to 2021!
2020 YEAR IN REVIEW (11/12) In November: The Halifax Camerata Singers released their Remembrance Day program, Songs of Remembrance - it was a wonderful project to be a part of, and I’m so thankful that I was able to keep singing in a choir amidst everything. You can watch the concert here:
2020 YEAR IN REVIEW (10/12) In October: I got to realize my dream of being a synth player and background vocalist and played The Carleton with the inimitable Keeper E and magnificent drummer David Dunham! I also tried the Inktober song-a-day challenge for the second year in a row and barely went a day without songwriting - I wasn't able to upload any videos from Inktober, but maybe you'll hear the new songs soon...
2020 YEAR IN REVIEW (9/12) In September: I got settled in Halifax, and started singing with the Halifax Camerata Singers! And, the National Youth Choir’s Alumni Virtual Choir final product was released - watch it here:
2020 YEAR IN REVIEW (8/12) In August: We released the 2020 edition of the Conduct Becoming album, Conduct Becoming: Take Me East! After four years on the album as an artist and later as a co-producer and manager, it felt very special to release my Sackville swan song as a love letter to my Mount A family of musicians and songwriters. You can listen to my track, More Than Words, here:
