FAQ: What can be stored in the tank? Our tanks are offered in different thicknesses, and rated by specific gravity. The classification determines the weight of the liquid that can be stored inside the tank. Both HDLPE and HDXLPE are resistant to many chemicals, but we encourage our clients to confirm compatibility, or contact us and we can help confirm compatibility. Our most common weight classes are: ... 1.1 sg - Water Weight Only These are the thinnest walled tanks, and designed for ONLY water storage. 1.5 sg - 150% the weight of water This is adequate for most compatible chemicals or mixtures. 1.9 sg - For liquid nearly twice as heavy as water These are some of the thickest plastic tanks molded for rugged durability and heavy solutions.
