What supplements do you need to take? . One of the main purposes of supplements is to fill any type of nutrient gap that you are not able (or to make it easier) to hit through food and exercise. Some you will find you always use, while others you may only use periodically. . Protein: Protein powder 1) makes it easier to hit your daily protein goal 2) saves you money rather than buying tones of meat protein 3) is a time saver if you don’t have time for a full meal... . Greens: If you are already eating a tone of vegetables, you 100% don’t need these. They are however great for people that don’t like vegetables or find it too expensive to eat enough. . Vitamin D: If you live somewhere hot or it is one of the more sunny months of the year, you may not need to take this however, will once the cold, winter months hit. . Omega-3: These can be super hard to get enough of from just food alone, which is why it is so convenient that there are pill, liquid, and vegan(flax seed oil) options available. . Glutamine: If you are increasing your training volume, recovering from an injury, or illness, your body may not be making enough l-glutamine on its own or through diet to help with immune function or tissue repair. . Vitamin C: This vitamin is necessary for the growth, development, and repair of all body tissue. So if you have an injury, cold, or are on a very restrictive diet while keeping your training intensity, it may be optimal to supplement/increase the amount you are intaking. . The main point is this-> it is important to be aware of what is lacking from your diet and understand what your body needs more of at certain times. They have so many awesome health benefits, taste amazing, and are a great way to add volume to your meals without adding a tone of calories and macros! - I'm not going to lie, its's usually when I am in contest prep and dieting really hard that I eat a crazy amount of vegetables to ...help me stay full and make my meals seem bigger. - However, I think something a lot of people don't actually know is that incorporating veggies into your meals actually helps your body absorb the protein you are eating. By increasing your daily fibre, you are improving your gut morphology (structure), enhancing digestion capacity which improves digestion and absorption of protein. - Other Health benefits include: Reduced risk for heart disease, including heart attack and stroke. May help to protect against certain types of cancers. Reduced the risk of heart disease, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. Lowers blood pressure, and may also reduce the risk of developing kidney stones and help to decrease bone loss. Transformation - I have known Dorothy since I was young.
