looooove what I do!!!!

Claws and Paws 05.09.2020

Cats claws CAN overgrow too! They usually shed naturally, but I see many, many cat nails that do not shed properly! (it could just be one nail on a cat that is affected and I have seen them grow right into the pad of the paw!) I can trim those sharp hooks off and teach you how to check their precious paws to be sure they are healthy and happy And, I do this all in the comfort of your home!... Servicing Amherstburg and the surrounding area! Just call or text 519-981-7117 See more

PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR DOGS NAILS HIT THE FLOOR! In my many years of experience I have come to the conclusion that most of us have no idea how important keeping our pets nails trimmed is to their overall wellbeing and quality of life. Why are soooo many dogs paws sensitive? Why do soooo many dogs despise a nail trim?... My conclusion is not just a "bad experience" or "your dog not liking his paws being touched " It has to do alot with the "tender to the touch" nails and pads from over-grown nails! Dogs that have maintained properly trim nails are much more relaxed about the whole process and I believe its not just from conditioning. Imagine having your weight on your nails all day... theyd be pretty darn sore. For dogs (like pugs) who are notoriously bad for nail trimming.. they have the type of nails that curl instantly when they grow, they hit the floor fast and also rub against their pad underneath... or even grow into the pad! OUCH! Again, why do I believe certain breeds fuss extra? The TENDERNESS of the nail/pads!!! So, for these types of breeds, more regular trimming is required to keep them comfortable. A dog nail should be short and fat not long and skinny. If you can HEAR CLICKING, you have waited too long! The vein in the nail can descend into the thin part of the nail and make it difficult to keep it as trim as it should be! I can help! Book and appointment anytime! I can teach YOU how to do a proper nail trim! Thanks for listening, Sarah Kay See more

I can help keep your pets nails trimmed There are health benefits to doing so! I will teach you how your pets nails work and how to do a proper nail trim...or at least how to recognize if your pet has received a quality nail trim. It is unfortunate the amount of times I have seen a "professional" nail trim that was just a "tip" trim. Which is not enough, especially for a dog. ... The nails should never hit the floor. When you hear "clicking" its already been way too long! An average dog/cat/small animal would benefit greatly from a regular monthly nail trim. Cats can actually suffer from nail conditions that stop the nail from shedding and then it thickens and overgrows into the pads. I have seen the worst case scenarios with these cases. And it is very painful for the cat. So, definitely keep an eye on your cats nails even if you dont care if the hook is there. Another danger is the hook on their nail can get caught on things, and can get torn out. They also allow more damage to be done to objects in your home than a trimmed nail when they sharpen their claws. Which they will still do despite your best efforts to stop them, and it is instinctive for them to do so. Another plus to getting your cats nails trimmed is that their lap kneading is much more pleasant without the hooks Lastly, as we all know, declawing is a touchy subject...but I can definitely help educate and avoid that painful surgery and maintain your cats nails in a healthier way Have a great Sunday with your furbabies The nail trimming diagram below is for DOGS*

Did you know cats nails do not grow the same as dogs? Their nails just get sharper because they shed naturally every 2-3 weeks! Before you know it, they have that sharp hook back! Regular nail trimming can help their nails stay rounded and short. I can help with that ;) Book an in-home appointment with me today! Sarah Kay
