CLB Regimental Band 15.12.2020

It’s been a challenging year. We haven’t been able to perform in public, but since the end of October we have been able to get together for very brief periods to rehearse - physically distanced and with instrument covers of course. We took a few minutes from one of our recent rehearsals to record this Christmas wish for you. We hope you all have a Merry Christmas and we look forward to a healthy and happy 2021 with much better things to come.

While this has been a different year for everyone, and today is a very different Remembrance Day for the Band, we still take the time to remember. We commemorate all of the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, for our province and our country. The full band could not take part in the Remembrance Day ceremony today, but we pay our respects from our respective homes. The band’s trumpet player, Ruth Leake, played the Last Post and Reveille, and a wreath was lai...d on behalf of the CLB at the ceremony. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. (Photos from the 2019 Remembrance Day Parade and ceremony by Drew.)

Today would have been the CLB’s 128th Anniversary parade. The Anniversary parade is one of the major public events in the Brigades’ calendar which brings together current and former CLB members, by company and battalion, to the CLB Armoury to parade to the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist for an annual service of thanksgiving. We in the band will certainly miss our time on parade with our comrades this year and wish all CLB members a most happy anniversary.

Typically on July 1 members of the band partake in the Memorial Day parade and service in St. John’s. While this year is a bit different, we still commemorate from home. July 1 is an important day in Newfoundland as we remember the sacrifices of all armed forces members, especially the Newfoundlanders who fought during the Battle of the Somme at Beaumont Hamel on this day 104 years ago. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

An important ceremony for our followers to take in this morning, albeit with a difference! https://youtu.be/pp57N5NRfho
