The cross country ski trails have been brushed, cleared and tracked by Parks and volunteers from the Clearwater Lake Outdoor Club. Lots of work has been done t...o make this a great place for skiing, hiking and snow shoeing. Check out cwloutdoorclub.com for trail maps and our Facebook page for updates. That said there has been some snowmobiling on the marked and groomed trails that ruins all the work done to date, we have been working with parks to regroom these trails but it is hard to keep up. If you are unsure where to snowmobile the ski trail maps are on the website, as a rule of thumb though, if you are east of pioneer bay campground and not next to the train tracks, you are probably on the ski trail. There will be a meeting on September 26 re: zebra mussels and our waterways! Subject: Citizens for Protecting Our Northern Waterways - General Meeting September 26th. Hi Folks, I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying what we have left of a very short summer season! ... Given the Covid-19 situation, this years activities related to preventing the spread of zebra mussels by our group were much less than originally planned. With that said, there were a number of activities that took place which helped advance our efforts. In brief - a website was developed, we sponsored our second watercraft inspection seminar, gave several presentations, received financial support from the R.M. of Kelsey and the Kelsey Watershed District, and were successful in securing a Fish and Wildlife Enhancement Fund Grant to assist our efforts going forward. It is now time to hold a General Meeting to bring everyone up to speed and establish a small Executive to oversee our group activities. The meeting(s) will be on Saturday September 26th in two locations to accommodate Covid-19 distancing requirements and to minimize travel - one at the Canadian Legion hall in Cranberry Portage (10 am - 12 noon) and one at the Clearwater Lake hall (2-4 pm). Attached please find the agenda. I hope you can attend this meeting to provide input and support. I look forward to seeing you on September 26th. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Regards and Cheers, Chris Christopher E. Smith CWB Certified Wildlife Biologist 129 Blue Heron Rd P.O. Hi Everyone, I am pleased to announce that our group will be hosing a Level 1 Watercraft Inspection Seminar in Cranberry Portage on Monday, July 13th. We are holding 2 sessions - one at 8:30 and one at 5:30, the latter to hopefully accommodate people who are unable to attend the morning session due to work. ... Additional detail is provided in the attached "poster". The session will be put on by Candace Parks with the Aquatic Invasive Species Unit of the Manitoba Government. I encourage you to attend. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Zebra Mussels, what we can do to help prevent the spread, and what is entailed with Watercraft Inspections in Manitoba. Space is limited so please RSVP to me by July 8th. My contact information is included below. Please feel free to share! Regards and Cheers, Chris Christopher E.
