Wetlands are another #pieceofthepuzzle for a #healthylakehuron. Join Ranger Em to learn about one landowner’s experience using wetlands to increase the biodiversity on their property. Permanent wetlands can help improve water quality, increase biodiversity, and provide flood control and are an important part of the #LandtoLake connection. Consider cover crops, rain gardens, grassed waterways & erosion control practices to keep your soil and nutrients where they're needed most! https://ontariograinfarmer.ca//01/ten-years-of-wild-weat/

A group of students from Saugeen District Secondary School took part in the Green Ribbon Champion program organized by Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation at Brucedale Conservation area. The students planted dune grasses, erected sand fencing, cleaned up the dune areas and removed plants not native to the area, in an effort to maintain the beautiful beach front area created after a six year project to remove Phragmites from the area. Saugeen Conservation would like to thank the students and their instructor Bud Halpin, as well as the staff at Lake Huron Centre for Coastal Conservation for their work on this project. #saugeendistrictsecondaryschool #lhccc #greenribbonchampion #brucedaleconservationarea

What an incredible reminder of Lake Huron ecosystem connectivity and the importance of maintaining/improving healthy ecosystems and water quality. Researchers from Anishinabek/Ontario Fisheries Resource Centre and Magnetawan First Nation - Lands and Resources tagged walleye in Spring 2019 in the Magnetawan River and an angler caught one of the walleye in the St. Clair River this spring - a distance of >400 km! #HealthyLakeHuron #PieceofthePuzzle #LandtoLake
