An Extreme Heat Event Warning has been issued for the long weekend. The Warning states that this will be the most significant heat event in the past few years.... Due to the Extreme Heat Warning Event, the Six Nations Fire & Emergency Services will be increasing on duty staffing levels for the duration of the long weekend. The Extreme Heat Event Warning will be continuing through the long weekend, daytime highs are forecast to reach the low to mid thirties with humidex values into the high forties. Overnight low temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid twenties, providing little or no relief from the heat. Current indications suggest hot temperatures could persist through next week. Please check in on any family or friends periodically through the weekend, especially those with no air conditioning or who have young children, are pregnant, elderly/older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people who are working outdoors. Try to stay cool and stay hydrated by drinking lots of water. ### Extreme heat affects everyone. The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors. Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.
