We helped deliver 6 healthy bulldog puppies recently! Caesarian sections are relatively common in breeds that have difficulty giving natural birth, including French bulldogs, Boston terriers and Bull terriers.

Daily dose of cuteness featuring one of our bunny patients Richard! Did you know rabbit teeth never stop growing? It's important to make sure pet rabbits are getting a diet that allows them to grind down their teeth. Sometimes rabbits require a vet visit to trim their teeth!

This Christmas season, we are accepting donations for two local rescues that we work with closely. Both Manitoba Great Pyrenees Rescue and Steinbach and Area Animal Rescue do amazing work in helping rescue local animals in need. Give us a call today if you are interested in donating.

To make your pet's visit to the vet the most enjoyable possible, it's a good idea to prepare them before the visit for an examination by helping them become desensitized to some of the interactions they will have with a veterinarian. Some ways you can help prepare your pet include: - touch around and inside their ears - check their eyes by parting the hair around it - check their teeth (all the way to the back!) ... - playing with their paws and feet Dr. Tara is demonstrating with her little model Piper how a proper exam should be done. Make sure you give your pets lots of positive feedback and treats! See more

What is Canine and Feline Diabetes? Diabetes mellitus is a common endocrine disease in dogs and cats. Diabetes is caused by a relative or absolute insulin deficiency. Just like human diabetes, pet diabetes is on the rise, with 1 out of 200 cats and 1 out of 300 dogs diagnosed with the disease during their lifetime. This is due to many factors, including the growing prevalence of obesity and changing dietary habits. (information courtesy of Merck Animal Health Canada)

Anyone else partial to puppies in a basket? How cute are their little faces?? Labrador Retrievers have such a sweet face, a happy-go-lucky personality, and can be easier to train because of their high food drive (they are always ready for a snack!). They are a very common dog breed, which means we get to see a lot of them here at the clinic as well. One common issue we see in Labradors is allergies and ear issues. Their large, floppy ears make the perfect environment for y...east infections within their ears, and their affinity towards water can sometimes exacerbate the issue, especially if the ears are not properly dried after. This breed is also prone to allergies, and some will require veterinary help to clear up their skin. Just like humans, canines can have seasonal allergy flare-ups! We never get tired of puppy cuddles, especially during these frustrating times. See more

Marc is all ears as he sits at attention for his picture. This very serious boy is being trained as an RCMP pup, and his job is clearly very important to him!
