December 12th Market News - We have good news and not so good news for the this week, our last winter market of the season. The good news is that despite the fire, we are still able to have a market and the 108 Sausage Company will be back with us hooray! We will also have a wonderful new (sanitized between each use) inspirational feature at the market, thanks to Ted and Louise Weaver and the Clearwater Bee Club! Our food vendors will still be here with all the goodies and lo...cal food you need for the holidays. The less good news is that as of December 2nd, the BC Public Health Office has put further restrictions on farmers markets and we will not be able to have our crafters or artisans with us. https://www2.gov.bc.ca//covid-19-pho-order-gatherings-even Our local crafters have put countless hours into making their goods and preparing for the holiday shopping season. October 31 Market News - The Clearwater Winter Farmers Market is back inside the warm and toasty gym at the Dutch Lake Community Centre this Saturday, October 31st, 9am - Noon! 108 Sausage Company will be back with their delicious sausages, bacon and freezer packs and we will have a full house of vendors with fresh baking, seasonal produce, fresh eggs, grass fed beef, pastured chickens, herbal products, gourmet mushrooms, handspun wool, honey, handmade jewelry, sewing, preser...ves, seasonal and home decor, wood work and more! @Good Stock Foods will be in the kitchen serving up some fresh & healthy breakfast fare and our draw is still going on for the tote bags. Safe access to locally produced food year round and during a pandemic is so important - all of our vendors will be masked or have table shields and we are strongly encouraging all our customers to wear masks as well. October 17th Market News - So excited for our first ever indoor winter market! The market will run every other Saturday 9 - noon in the Dutch lake Community Centre gymnasium. As a special treat for frequent shoppers - every time you come to the winter market until December 12th, you will be entered into a draw for one of these fair trade cotton BCAFM tote bags! For your safety, all of our vendors and market staff will be wearing face coverings or have table shields. We kindly ask that our customers also wear a face covering, practice physical distancing, clean your hands and to stay home if you are sick. October 10th Market News - The days are getting shorter and cooler and this is is our last market out on the field BUT... we are happy to announce that the market will be moving indoors and will continue to offer all the yummy treats and handmade goods that you know and love! Backcountry Bowls will be slinging their breakfast bowls and smoothies again this week and there is still lots of fresh produce from Watersmeet, Bears Bounty, the Hungry Horse and Dixon Creek Farm, fresh baked bread and treats from Helmcken Chocolates, the Ward Farm and the Kitchen Box, grass fed beef from MacLennan Farms, fresh honey from the Wandering Bee, gourmet mushrooms from the Mushroom Shop, and wonderful handmade sewing, art, wreaths and home decor from Dreams and Delusions Art Studio, Clearwater Clothing and Just for You. This week at the market celebrates the Arts Alive community art project and one last chance to purchase a raffle ticket in support of the Upper Clearwater Fire Brigade. We will also have newspapers and will be collecting donations for the Raise a Reader campaign. Raise a Reader funds support many literacy programs and services in our community, including food literacy programs and all funds raised are matched by the Province! Sept. 19th Market News - its sauerkraut season! The big cabbages that are perfect for making our favourite fermented food are hitting the market stands now. This weeks vendor spotlight goes to Watersmeet Farm - Jerrard and Donna Kay Brown are based in Barriere and have been growing and selling their amazing produce in the North Thompson Valley for over 15 years! August 29 Market news- the The Secret Garden Flower Farm and 108 Sausage Company will be back! The corn is winding down so this may be your last chance this year but the harvests are in full swing for all the other great fresh produce as well as fresh baking, honey, preserves, beef, chicken, eggs and handmade goods. The Growers Collective table will be open with a variety of lovely locally grown apples picked by our BC Wildfire Services gleaning crew! All proceeds go to the YCS Food Security Program. This lovely display from last week is courtesy of Bears Bounty from Barriere. Market runs 9 am - noon on the field at the Dutch Lake Community Centre. Support local and shop safe!

Clearwater Farmers Market! Come check us out

Gatzkes peaches and nectarines from the Okanagan will be back at the market this Saturday! It's not too late to get your peaches canned at a great price! We are also in full swing corn season - did you know that we have North Thompson grown corn? Corn that is fresh picked is sweeter and juicier than old corn and what could be fresher than corn grown in our own valley? The bonus is that the price is comparable to the grocery stores AND you are supporting local farmers. Buy ...a dozen or 2 and freeze them for winter... What is your favourite corn recipe?? Here's mine: Easy Freezing Corn 10 cups fresh corn kernels cut from cob (I use a bundt or angel food cake pan to support the cob and allow the kernels to fall down around it) 2 cups hot water 1 tablespoon salt (optional) cup sugar (optional) 2 tablespoons butter (optional) Combine all ingredients in a large roasting pan and bake at 375 F until mixture boils. Stir frequently. Cool completely and pack in freezer bags or containers, label and freeze. Visit Watersmeet Farm and Dixon Creek Farm booths for your corn fix while it lasts!
