I guess it's time to let you all know what I've been up to with classes being suspended long term. I've been using my time off to keep this little boy safe and growing! I miss all you and your adorable pups, and am looking forward to classes again when I'm ready! For now I won't be returning before his arrival in late March, and will see how it goes from there. I'm happy to help refer you to an experienced positive reinforcement trainer in your area if your looking for a suitable class though! Please don't stop sharing your dog pictures with me while I'm taking this break!

Keep your pup busy for a while buy adding some cheap puppy food (something different than their regular food to make it interesting) in a used pop or water bottle. #reducereuserecycle

We have made the tricky decision to not continue classes for now, and will re-evaluate down the road. I am always here though if you need me! For today's tutorial I'm digging into the archives so show you how I treat a pup who's stealing things they shouldn't. Just a couple notes that I don't point out in this video: 1) notice my tone as I ask him to drop it. It's not playful or fun ... 2) notice the redirection at the end as I try to get him to sit. This will mean that as your pups get older they won't go right back to the item you asked them to leave :)

Todays video is on getting your dog to wear equipment. Pratice helps prepare your dog for anything you might want to put on them in the future, so try it with silly things like hats, hula hoops, etc and they will be much more comfortable in the future with odd things on them.

Getting your puppy to come back inside can be a tricky situation if they dont want to. Often this is because coming to the door typically ends with going inside and the fun ends. So you should make the door where the fun happens! You can do this 2 ways, I would suggest a combo of both! 1) Toys- make the door the source of the fun. Play near the door, if your playing fetch start throwing the ball from close to the door rather than far away from it on your back yard. ... 2) treats- good treats come from the door area. Remember to not just use these to bribe your dog back in, but call them to the door, then let them go play, and call them back, and go play so they stop associating the door with the end of being outside. #recall #obedience #positivetraining #whitedogs #poodlesofinstagram
