We can't say enough good things about our local employers who promote inclusion in our community! When working with employers, we find them the best candidate to support the needs of their business. For Knox Chiropractic Clinic, hiring Coulter for outdoor maintenance was a great fit for everyone: "Coulter is eager to work and do a good job not just to get paid, but he does love being able to share about his future purchase plans with the money he’s earning. He completes h...is jobs enthusiastically and is so happy when he knows we are pleased with his efforts and he embraces new challenges (he helped with the window boxes), and is willing to step outside of his typical duties. Having Coulter here in the mornings allows me to focus on opening the clinic I leave him in charge of the outside, only calling on me if he has a question. And how does Coulter feel about his job? I like my job sweeping and being helpful, It’s a good way to start my day." That's the power of inclusion. #NDEAM2020 #EngageTalent #ThePowerOfInclusion

People who have a disability make important contributions to the workplace and our community. Like Harold, who is a valued member of the team at the Huntsville Public Library. What does Harold like about his job? I like that I have a job that is quiet and relaxing. I am able to use my skills and enjoy my job.... #NDEAM2020 #EngageTalent #ThePowerofInclusion

Ken and Catherine Cole, owners of The Great Vine share why becoming an inclusive employer has been a supportive and rewarding experience. There’s so much support there to have success. And it does make you look at your business through fresh eyes which I think is fantastic. - Catherine Cole If you would like to learn more about becoming an inclusive employer, please contact our job developer Steven at [email protected] or 705-789-4543 ext 8.... #NDEAM2020 #EngageTalent #ThePowerOfInclusion https://youtu.be/u1q1ByXRngs

When it comes to workplace safety, 97% of employees who have a disability rate average or above. This is just one of the many reasons why inclusive hiring is great for business. For over 20 years, we’ve hosted our Remembering Friends event to honour loved ones who have passed away. With the pandemic cancelling many events, we did not want to cancel a tradition that brings many people comfort as they grieve. Although we cannot be together this year, we are creating an online presentation to be launched early November that you can watch on your own time. We invite you to contribute to the presentation by sharing your memories of your loved ones. These memories can include stories, videos, photos and poems. Submissions will be accepted until November 2, 2020 and can be emailed to Stacey Bullock at [email protected].

Did you know organizations with inclusive cultures are 8 times more likely to achieve better business outcomes? The return on investment in employees who have a disability far outweighs any dollar investment that may be required to make accommodations for employees who have a disability. #NDEAM2020 #EngageTalent #ThePowerOfInclusion

There's a myth that hiring people with disabilities isn't good for business. How wrong that is! A 2018 Accenture study found businesses that practice inclusive hiring of people who have a disability experience: 72% more productivity... a 45% increase in workplace safety 30% higher profit margins 2x the net income of other businesses in the study We work with local employers to connect them with qualified candidates who will benefit their operations and workplaces as a whole. For Hunters Bay Radio, hiring Wendy and Zack has been a positive experience for everyone: Having Zack, and Wendy working with us has been a complete pleasure. Both are very consistent punctual, independent and hard working. After having them work with us on-air as well as off-air for many years now, we wouldn’t know what to do without them. They play an integral part in the operations of Hunters Bay Radio. #NDEAM2020 #EngageTalent #ThePowerOfInclusion

For National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we're challenging myths around disability and employment. There's a damaging assumption that people who live with a disability are unable to hold down jobs. On the contrary, staff retention rates are 72% higher among people who have a disability. #NDEAM2020 #EngageTalent #ThePowerOfInclusion

Accessibility requires more than simply providing a ramp so people can enter a building, though this is still important. Accessibility is about removing barriers to places, housing, education, social interactions, and well-being so everyone has the supports they need to participate and feel welcomed. What does this look like for Muskoka and Canada? https://www.clhuntsville.ca//new-possibilities-for-commun/
