John lectured a group of metro Vancouver high school students participating in a forensic environmental investigation course organized and presented by Mr. Peter Krahn, P.Eng., of Environment Canada. This course was held in association with the Professional Engineers of British Columbia during National Engineering and Geosciences Month. Johns remarks addressed environmental legislation, investigation, and prosecution of environmental offences.

Curtis Simmonds received his law degree in 2014 from Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops after graduating from Simon Fraser University. His interests in the legal field include civil litigation, criminal law and administrative law. We are excited to work with you Curtis!

In June, 2015, our articling student James Patterson was called to the British Columbia Bar upon his completion of the Professional Legal Training Course (PLTC). We are excited to welcome James as an associate lawyer with Cliffe Tobias. James interests include the criminal law and administrative law. Congratulations James!

In July of 2015, John Cliffe was in Victoria where he participated as a Team Leader at the Winning Advocacy Skills Workshop presented by the Continuing Legal Education Society (CLE). The Winning Advocacy Skills Workshop is offered annually; both John Cliffe and Cheryl Tobias have been Team Leaders in several previous years.

On February 28, Cheryl, along with ex-colleagues from the Department of Justice and other senior members of the bar, taught a course in Appellate Advocacy put on by the The Advocates' Society.

On February 25 and 26, John, together with the Honourable R. Michel Bourassa of Witnessprep.ca, taught a course in effective testimony techniques to Royal Canadian Mounted Police members at their Pacific Regional Training Centre in Chilliwack, B.C.

On February 21 and 22, John presented a paper entitled "Creative Sentencing in Environmental Prosecutions, The Canadian Experience, An Overview" at the Canadian Institute of Resources Law Conference, which took place at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. Achievement unlocked!!!
