Cloud Nine Guides 04.01.2021

With recent public health and safety mandates handed down by the Alberta Government this week in relation to #covid_19, we’ve been getting a ton of questions as to whether our AST Courses and Private Guiding programs have been impacted. For now, programs are moving ahead, carefully and cautiously. As always, drop a line if you’d like clarification on any potential impacts to your programming. AST1 seats available next weekend. Take care of each other out there, and yourselves. #wearecloudnine

What an amazing fall season had here in Canmore. After great days out ski touring and ice climbing last week, it’s 15*C and bluebird here in Banff today. Nothing better than starting an office day with a few hours swinging around under the ice tools. Have a great week all! See ya next weekend for our first AST Courses of the season #wearecloudnine

Avalanche season is upon us. Report in from #mountathabasca this morning at 8am of a Size 2-2.5 windslab that released wall to wall on the Ramp Route overnight. 15cm of storm snow produced a 30-40cm soft slab that managed to clear the crevasses and seracs below, and darn near hit the approach track. Seems like a great reminder to start switching the mental gears into winter mode, and to get dialed back in on our companion rescue skills for the winter ahead. Godspeed out there #wearecloudnine
