Words of encouragement from Eppi: Whenever you are stressed, or tired, it is critical to take a few moments to self-nurture. Once your cup is empty, there isn’t anything in it left to give. Please try to fill that cup before trying to pour from it. A few moments of regular self-care can improve your mood, efficiency, happiness, relationships, health, and work quality. Often, creative solutions to pressing issues or problems can present themselves to you during that down ti...me. Stepping aside to rest is also helpful, because, when done mindfully, this can provide a chance for others to grow their skills, too. Remember that you are part of a community of people; you never have to go it alone! Reach out to those you care about. Reach out to others who can help. Rest. Take a break. How Eppi is taking care of her wellbeing during this pandemic: - Exercise and walks in nature - Creating art - Gardening - Baking yummy treats and cooking healthy meals - Watching movies - Listening to music - Meditation - Keeping in touch with others, virtually sharing funny stories, words of comfort, and venting when needed!
Take the GetUP challenge!
Happy Halloween! For today’s Recipe Wednesday, Seanna Thomas from Hockey Snacks Inc. will make some spooky and fun recipes to celebrate Halloween! Apple Spider Web Pops: Ingredients: 2 big apples... 1/2 cup dark chocolate 2 tsp coconut oil 1/2 cup white chocolate Directions: Cut the apples lengthwise into thick slices. Remove seeds but keep core intact. Cut a hole into the bottom and push a popsicle stick halfway into the apple. Combine dark chocolate and 1 tsp of coconut oil and melt. Do the same with white chocolate and coconut oil until melted and smooth. Dip half of the apples into the dark chocolate and coat completely. Dip the other half in the white chocolate and cover completely. Transfer the leftover dark chocolate into one bag and white chocolate into another bag and cut the corner off the bag. Pipe circles onto the apples and then drag a toothpick through the circles to make a spider web. Put in the fridge until solid. Enjoy!
This past week, Peter received the prestigious Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays. It truly is a honour and a distinction and we are all very proud of him. The medal and certificate presentation were delayed due to Covid. With the recent upsurge in cases, the reception had to be cancelled. Instead, they met Consul General and Mrs. Sasayama for an the informal presentation of the commendation. CONGRADULATIONS PETER!

Today's staff hero is, Devang! Devang did an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G job on helping get the COVID-19 Response Guide training into our Learning Management System (LMS). He taught himself a new computer code to assemble this training and get it out in time to release it to managers, supervisors and all staff. Historically, many of these challenges would have to been fixed by the vendor and took much longer to accomplish! This addition now makes the whole experience better for all learners! Thank you, Devang! #DevelopmentalServicesMatter #BetterTogether #COVID19 #Staff #Support
Today's staff hero is Alyssa! Aly is always going above and beyond to make sure the group home residents have meaningful and fun activities to enrich their days. Thank you, Aly for everything you do! #DevelopmentalServicesMatter #BetterTogether #COVID19 #Staff #Support
