Call for Volunteers for Return to Hockey The Charlottetown Minor Hockey Association is calling for volunteers to enable a smooth return to hockey this season. Volunteers do not need to be otherwise involved in hockey. We require volunteers especially at the beginning of the year (before teams are made) to follow Hockey PEI and the CPHO's screening and contact tracing guidelines. This will involve being at the door of each rink for CMHA ice times and ensuring that all particip...ants are self-screening and recording their information upon entry. Volunteers will likely be required for two to four hour shifts. Without volunteers this year, we will not be able to responsibly return to hockey as an Association. We have had a significant number of people who have already generously volunteered their time; however, the more people we have on the volunteer roster, the smaller each individual's contribution has to be. Please reach out to [email protected] with your name, your child's name, your phone number, and any preference for days/times to become a volunteer! Thank you. http://cmhapei.ca/news.php?news_id=1891534

Message from the President - Registration Now Open The Charlottetown Minor Hockey Executive has been meeting all summer trying to develop plans for a safe return to hockey. We know the season didn’t end the way we all wanted and are hopeful for a better year. We are going to follow the guidelines of the CPHO and Hockey PEI’s Return to Hockey plan, which can be found by clicking here (https://hockeypei.com/members/return-to-hockey/). The tentative start date for Phase 1 is Sep...tember 14th. On-ice numbers will follow each arena's individual operational plan. We will be doing contact tracing for our on-ice sessions. From U13 and below, players will be required to come fully dressed and dressing rooms will not be available. U15 and U18 will be able to use dressing rooms but social distancing will be required. All players will be asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to their ice time and to depart 15 minutes following. And as you know, things can change at any moment and we will communicate with you as best we can. Please note that tryouts cannot happen until Phase 2 begins - this is in the Hockey PEI Return to Hockey plan. Our online registration is now open (https://abbies.goalline.ca/register-hub.php) and our in-person registration is Saturday, September 12th from 10:00 AM to noon at the Maplewood room, which is upstairs at the Cody Banks Arena. We strongly encourage people to register online this year to keep numbers in-person low. We are still looking for volunteers to help with the contact tracing and to ensure guidelines are being followed (http://cmhapei.ca/news.php?news_id=1889454). Without these volunteers, we will not be able to responsibly return to hockey. Thank you to those who have already come forward. Please reach out to Alex MacBain by email ([email protected]) if you can help. Keith Ford, President, CMHA http://cmhapei.ca/news.php?news_id=1889847

Central Attack AAA Coaches Announced Many of our Central Attack teams shared in the disappointment of an abrupt end to the 2019-20 season. While great strides were made in both player and team development, there is a feeling of unfinished business from last season. While we are not quite sure what hockey will look like in the fall, we know we have a committed group of coaches and will be well represented behind the bench. Our slate of AAA coaches for 2020/21 are as follows: U...13 AAA Central Attack is pleased to welcome back returning U13 AAA coaches Ryan Ramsay, Jonathan Arsenault, Ryne MacIsaac, and Noah Laybolt. Development continues to be this group’s focus, and the Central Attack Board is 100% committed to this program. The effort was starting to pay off as the season drew to a close last year. The team was 3-1-1 in its last five games and poised for playoff success when things got shut down. U15 AAA The Major U15 AAA Central Attack will have a familiar face behind the bench as KJ White takes over the head coaching duties along with Chris Silvaggio and Josh Beaton. This will be White’s third consecutive year as part of the coaching staff. This group had another strong year with a repeat title win at the SPUD tournament, and another regular season championship. Unfortunately, what was shaping up to be an epic league championship series with their Eastern PEI rival got cut short. White says his coaching staff is looking forward to playing in a very competitive PEI U15 AAA league this upcoming season. Our team will play a fast-paced, puck-moving style game with a focus on transition and speed in all three zones. We are excited about building our roster and team identity for the 2020-2021 hockey season. U18 AAA The U18 AAA Central Attack is pleased to announce that Morgan Rice and John MacDougall have been named coaches for the 2020-2021 season. Morgan and John are returning after a successful year with this group in which the highlight was a SPUD championship. Prior to this, they had a couple of highly successful seasons with the Bantam AA Central Attack. Their hopes are to continue the progress they made in the last few seasons. Rice said, We are excited to be back. Last season we made progress on and off the ice as a group and look forward to taking the next step this year. We want to build a program and culture that players and parents are proud to be a part of. http://cmhapei.ca/news.php?news_id=1887057
