The new Kenora Mobile Crisis Response Team partnership between Canadian Mental Health Association, Kenora Branch and the Kenora detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police launched Nov. 2 to provide more effective and appropriate responses to mental health and addictions-related crisis calls. This new initiative, which involves a CMHA mental health nurse embedded within the detachment who accompanies a specially-trained officer on calls, will reduce interactions with emergency departments and the justice system by directing more individuals to the right supports in the community.
