Is Blue Monday really the most depressing day of the year? Not scientifically speaking, no. It was actually a marketing strategy created to encourage people to go on vacation in January. What is very real, however, is Seasonal Affective Disorder, and so are the winter blues. https://www.vernonmorningstar.com//cmha-kelowna-offers-t/
If you are struggling this winter please know that there are resources available. Bounce Back is available free at http://ow.ly/WaOl50D8CWA Bounce Back teaches effective skills to help individuals (aged 15+) overcome symptoms of mild to moderate depression or anxiety, and improve their mental health. A lovely reminder from Hannah. "We had no idea this would be the last Saturday we would be standing next to each other, preparing our Saturday social. It has been 10 months now. Our time together brings so much love and laughter not only to each other but spread throughout everyone who attended. This here is a reminder, never take the little things for granted, appreciate all the moments we have and make the best of them. Until we meet again my friends, stay safe, keep fit and have fun. Cheers Hannah"

Do you worry a lot about school? Do you worry about making friends or stress about what others think of you? You're not alone - everyone experiences worries, anxiety, and stress. CMHA Vernon & District, in partnership with the YMCA of Okanagan, is facilitating a Teen Mindfulness Group. This group supports teens ages of 13 to 18, who are experiencing symptoms of anxiety and allows them to learn and practice healthy coping strategies to better manage stress and anxiety. The gro...up will provide an opportunity for teens to learn within a safe, comfortable, and fun environment surrounded by other teens experiencing similar thoughts and feelings. The Teen Mindfulness info sessions will take place on February 4 and 11 via ZOOM. The Teen Mindfulness workshop series will run virtually from March 4 to April 15 (a total of seven weeks) via ZOOM. To learn more, email [email protected] or [email protected]
