COVID-19 UPDATE at Cambridge Memorial Hospital As the COVID-19 situation is increasing concern within the province and our region, CMH has decided to make some updates on their restrictions: Triage- No support person during assessments. This could include follow ups after ultrasounds.... Delivery room - 1 support person is allowed once labour is confirmed, or you are admitted and brought to a labour room. Postpartum - 1 support person is allowed to stay with mom and babe until discharge. Please remember that minimal ins and outs are preferred. . . . #midwivesmakeadifference #midwifery #midwives #cambridgemidwives #homebirth #hospitalbirth #ontariomidwives

Posted @withregram @stephaniebuckpt_andassoc My friends joke about leakage. We've heard those jokes so much that we think it's normal after pregnancy. But common does not mean normal. Your body should be able to laugh and snort and have tears running down your face....without them running down your leg (second picture is Katie, the pelvic floor phisioterapist you’ll find here at Cambridge Midwives!) - - - #pelvicfloor #pelvicfloorexercises #pelvicfloorphysicaltherapy #pelvicfloordysfunction #pelvicfloorhealth #pelvicfloormuscles #breastfeeding #breastfeedingmama #pregnancyexercise #postpartumbody #postpartum #postpartumfitness #postpartumhealth #postpartumexercises #physiotherapy #midwivesmakeadifference #midwifery #midwives #cambridgemidwives #homebirth #hospitalbirth #ontariomidwives

We love to see your babies grow. Here’s baby Carter and what his mom said: Carter was born on April 22, 2020 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. My midwife team was Julia and Ana Maria. I have nothing but fantastic things to say about them and the care and guidance I received by Cambridge Midwives. First picture is Carter at 1 day old and the second photo is him at 3 months old. I just wanted to share the pictures with you guys. - Jenna & Brent . . . . #midwivesmakeadifference #midwifery #midwives #cambridgemidwives #homebirth #hospitalbirth #ontariomidwives

Our #tbt goes to baby River. In this pic is our midwife Melanie and our student at the time Sarah. Currently, we have two students in our clinic. If you’d like to read more about them, check them out on our website: www.cambridgemidwives.ca Here’s what his mom shared: I took this pic at our 24 hour visit since it would be the last time with Sarah. She was such a pleasure to have along our journey. Her and Melanie were a great support during my labour that felt never endin...g! Big thank you to Melanie, Julia and Sarah for a wonderful experience with Cambridge Midwives :). . . . #midwivesmakeadifference #midwifery #midwives #cambridgemidwives #homebirth #hospitalbirth #ontariomidwives

Happy Monday post with this amazing birth story. Posted @withregram @mrs.rae.gallo Kinsley Mae Gallo is finally here Born Wednesday October 14th At 6:24pm. 6lbs9oz of pure perfection With ALL the hair!! ... BIRTH STORY: We had quite the birth experience. It was all ours and perfectly brought her to us. But it was nothing like we ever thought or prepared for. Surrendering is what we have learned the most. We had a blazing fast labour. After our 41 week ultrasound on Tuesday, her fluid was showing low levels so we were induced Wednesday morning. We checked in at 8:15am and I was started at 9:30. By 2:30 I was fully dilated and ready to bring her here. But we learned little miss was sunny side up and what seemed like stuck. After 2 hours of pushing and in the second hour with absolutely no decent, it was confirmed the only and best way to bring her here was with a C Section. Everything we hoped to avoid ended up being our story but we know it’s perfect in our own way and so thankful she’s here. The moment we heard her first cry was the best sound of my entire life. Nothing else mattered She is thriving. Mama had no complications and is healing but doing so well. And daddy is in complete newborn bliss I’m SO thankful to my midwife. I could not have made it through this experience with someone more perfect for us @cambridge_midwives and the staff at Cambridge hospital could not have been more kind and helpful. SHES FINALLY HERE And we are so absolutely in love! Thank you for the love

As the numbers continue to go up, it is important to keep following public health guidelines. Take a moment to read this post from Cambridge Memorial Hospital We also take the time to remind you NOT to bring your kids to your appointments and that we are keeping support people in the clinic to a minimum. Please talk to your midwife if you have any issues/concerns. Posted @withregram @cambridge_memorial_hospital Make sure you wear your mask correctly and store it safely when not in use. A brown paper lunch bag is an ideal place to put your mask when you must remove it to eat or drink. Don’t forget to wash or sanitize your hands before and after you handle your mask. #weareinthistogether #washyourhands #wearamask #mask

Our client @jordanabarbuto shares: # . Going into labour I had a very open mind. I didn’t want to have too many expectations as birth is so unpredictable. Yes I wanted a VBAC without drugs but at the end of the day if a repeat csection was needed to bring Brielle safe into this world than that is how it was meant to be. I said to myself constantly leading up to the day that no matter what happens, I was going to be so proud myself. ... I woke up Sunday morning feeling completely off and crampy. I told my in laws and Nick that I just wanted to lay low inside and by myself. I ended just bouncing on my ball and binge watching Netflix. At about 3:25 in the afternoon I had a contraction. I’d been experiencing strong Braxton Hicks but this one was SO different. It was not that painful. I could still talk and walk and it lasted about a minute. But 10 minutes later it happened again but this time more intense. I started timing them and eventually these contractions turned into every 5 minutes for 1 minute for 1 hour. Around 5pm I called my midwife and she advised I head to the hospital to be assessed. When we got to the hospital I was only 2cm dilated and 75% effaced so they sent me home and I laboured at home for two hours. Around 7:45pm I went back to the hospital was 3cm dilated and got admitted. Right away I asked for morphine. It did nothing for the pain but it did help relax me during contractions. At around 10:20pm things started to get REAL. My contractions were so intense that I couldn’t take it. I was barely getting a break between them. I was screaming for the epidural but the anesthesiologist’s was in a surgery and then had to give an epidural to a women who asked for it first. So when it was my turn it was too late! I went from 6-10cm in 20 minutes and it was time to push! 1 hour of pushing later and at 12:37am on Monday June 8th, Baby Brielle was laid on my chest. I looked up at Nick and we were both in tears. Our baby girl was here and I had the birth I wanted. Because all went so well we went home 3.5 hours after birth. It was hands down one of the best moments of our lives See more

Here’s our client and her beautiful family. Second pic is the newest addition to their family . Thank you for sharing your story with us. I’ve been with Cambridge Midwives for 12 years and have had 7 children under their care! I’ve had every kind of delivery and Cambridge Midwives have been there every step of them way. The amazing pre and postnatal care has been phenomenal! They explain everything very clearly and give you all the options to make the best choice for you an...d your baby! I wouldn’t have it any other way, nor would I want to. The one on one care you get during but more importantly, after baby is here, is outstanding! They not only care about your baby but actually care about you as well! THANK YOU, from the bottom of our hearts, for being there for our 7 children!!!. . . . #midwivesmakeadifference #midwifery #midwives #cambridgemidwives #homebirth #hospitalbirth #ontariomidwives See more
