With less than two weeks remaining to provide a donation receipt for $10.00 or more to me at [email protected] I want to encourage more paticipants for the watch draw. The njmber of entries so far speak to your generosity. Thanks to all of you. Bob Haggart

This message is to all the Barrie Council CN Pensioners Association members who read this page. In view of the fact we are unable to have our usual meetings, special events, parties, etc. we are again in a very positive bank account status. Coupled with the promised charitable giving we have as part of our monthly meeting format we can repeat the support for local organizations (i.e. the food banks back in the spring) which are in need at this time of year. ... Since it is the Christmas season the Council Executive determined we could send support to the Salvation Army Citadels for their local use from Northern York Region to Huntsville and also a donation in support of the CTV-Lions Childrens Christmas Telethon in Sudbury which reaches the communities from North Bay to Armstrong. Merry Christmas to them and to all who read this message. Bob Haggart President CNPA - C2 Barrie

Some time ago I linked a page featuring "railway pocket watches" but due to recent changes in railroading we now can use 'wrist watches'..... obviously my tongue is stuck in my cheek 'cause the watch rules are quite vague these days. If you are a watch fan like me I want to revisit the FB page for Michael Poirier's "Pinnacle Awards" site to draw your attention to recently available wrist watches. These watches are assembled in Sudbury, Ontario by a Licensed Swiss watchmaker w...ho was a CN/CP watch inspector. You can visit his Amazon sales at :https://pinnacleawardscanada.com/ Click on the Canadian Flag and scroll down to the wrist watch offerings in silver or gold.

Railroaders In The Community Incentive Bonus Incentive Bonus: if you are a current member of the CNPA (paying your $1 per month membership), CN will give an additional reward of $100 to one of the charities you volunteered for. This is another great reason to become a member of the CNPA, and to enter your 2020 volunteer hours into the new platform before Dec. 31. How the Incentive Bonus Works: At the end of each calendar year, the CNPA will send a list to CN of all Pensi...oners who have paid their membership fee. CN will cross-reference this list with the Pensioners who applied for volunteer awards in RRITC in that calendar year. Through the Spark website, CN will send $100 to a single charity that each member volunteered for. If a member volunteered for more than one charity, CN will contact the Pensioner in early January to ask them which charity should receive the bonus $100. The bonus payments will be entered in January with the funds being transferred by mid-February. Please note that there is one (1) $100 bonus per PIN and applies equally to surviving spouses. As the RRITC program ends December 31st and restarts January 1st annually, all awards are reset. Therefore, any volunteer hours for the current year should be entered into Spark in that year in order for the bonus to be paid out in January/February. In order to qualify for the bonus $100 for your charity, the minimum volunteer time is just one hour. Should you have any questions about this incentive bonus, please write to: [email protected]. 25 Years seems like a long time but it seems like only yesterday when CN went private. Canadian National CEO JJ Ruest poses with the heritage locomotives celebrating the 25th anniversary of CN's privatization. Pascale Simard/Alpha Presse MONTREAL Canadian National has unveiled a set of heritage locomotives as it celebrates today’s 25th anniversary of the initial public offering that marks its privatization from a government-owned Crown Corporation.... In its 25 years as a private corporation, CN has acquired the Illinois Central; Wisconsin Central; Elgin, Joliet & Eastern; and BC Rail. Those railroads, as well as CN component Grand Trunk Western, are represented with the specially painted locomotives commemorating the anniversary of the IPO. At C$2.25 billion, the Nov. 17, 1995, IPO was the biggest in Canadian history. JJ Ruest, CN’s CEO, will mark the anniversary today by ringing the Opening Bell at the Toronto Stock Exchange and the Closing Bell at the New York Stock Exchange. Today, the railroad has a market capitalization of approximately C$100 billion; a C$1,000 investment in 1995 would be worth more than C$63,000 today. The privatization of CN was anticipated with widespread skepticism, but executed with startling success and today it is the source of enormous pride for our employees and all those involved over the years, Ruest said in a press release. It allowed CN to unleash the powerful creative and competitive forces of our railroaders. I want to thank everyone who contributed to this success as well as our employees for their dedication to safely moving the economy for our customers and for the communities where we operate. Twenty-five years after the IPO and with safety as our core value, our future is all about performance and customer service, generating long-term value for our shareholders. It’s been an amazing 25 years and the journey continues.

Please join me in sending sincere condolences to the Dines household in Capreol. On Thursday, October 28, Florence, wife of longtime railroader and fellow CN Pensioner Louis Dines, succumbed to injuries sustained in a traffic accident on Hwy 17 south of Wawa in which Louis sustained injury as well. I hope Louis recovers quickly and he knows we all share his grief.
