The Trudeau Liberal government has forgiven two loans, worth a combined total of $7.4 million, to a subsidiary company of Irving Oil, stating that they know the... loans "have not been and likely will never be repaid." Meanwhile, this government refuses to forgive student loans, despite students and graduates owing over $15 billion to the federal government. This is unacceptable. Budgets are about priorities. It's clear that the federal government can prioritize for loan forgiveness when they want to. As students head into the school year, it is clear that we need a federal government that prioritizes students. As our institutions continue to raise tuition, food bank usage continues to increase while students juggle multiple jobs. We see time and time again that students need loan forgiveness.
