Well wishes for Don Collette I would like to wish Donnie Collette, (President of the Canadian Professional Boxing Council) a speedy recovery on behalf of all the members of the Canadian National Boxing Authority, who is presently in hospital recovering from a recent illness. Mr. Collette has worked tirelessly on behalf of the sweet science and is respected by the Boxing community coast-to-coast and abroad. He has been instrumental in elevating the profile of boxers and the Sp...ort of Champions in Canada and internationally. You got this Champ! May this final day of 2019 provide us all with hope, love and reflection. If only for a brief moment and time - may we find the room in our hearts to remember those that have influenced our lives and moved on past their earthly lives! May we see the real beauty in living and in being able to rise to our fullest humanity - more fulfilled with the things that matter most of all; the innocence in our children, easily found in the sparkle of their eyes and all the joys they giv...e so freely. May we appreciate more completely the beauty of earth, land and sea! The time has come to manage our resources in more appropriate ways. May we share more with one another and put aside our past or present grievances, seek to find the right balance, live in moderation and seek justice as often as we can. The time we have here on this earth is far too short to exchange jabs in the marketplace or to wage wars against our fellow beings and creatures that share this place we call earth. We have the opportunity to rejoice in all things - let's do it together because we can. Consider the following thoughts for 2020. Regardless of the trials and tribulations you may face let your courage and determination be the hallmark of your strength as you face each adversity in this life. Let your faith be the voice of reason when you are uncertain about the next move you need to take. Let your loved ones in on the conversations so all of you are on the same page more often than not. Let anger and frustration go because it will confine your thoughts and consume your energy. Let your friends know how much you appreciate them whenever you can because they matter in your life and in your heart. Let heartache subside so your mind is clear and willing to face whatever else comes your way. Let there be a place for strangers, the young and old and those in need in your life because surely you will be one of these yourself one day. Let the New Year be a reminder of where you came from and where you are destined to go. Let your laughter, your words, your sense of balance and positive influence be your calling card so when others need a friend they will reach out to you as you have of them. Let your days be filled with hope, faith and love and trust yourself to rise to your fullest potential as only you can - even when things don't turn out just as planned. Daniel Doiron

On Dec. 12, 2019, my brother and brother to my seven siblings, Jerry Doiron-Gould passed away. Jerry was known around the boxing world for 66 years of involvement. Our brother, Paul Doiron is a boxing writer, doing a weekly column in the Miramichi (NB) Leader for 12 years. This is the story he did on the passing of Jerry Doiron-Gould, the online version at this time. The actual newspaper column will appear next Monday, with numerous pictures: Paul Doiron | Special to the Mira...Continue reading
