Athletes get caught in a spiral of thoughts constantly. Whether that’s someone who’s losing against a lower-ranked opponent, a lower-ranked opponent is finding themselves ahead, or just general obstacles athletes regularly face in competition. There always seems to be some level of anxiety and mental stress, and everyone feels them. The difference is the ones who perform at a higher level consistently use this feeling as a trigger. It becomes a signal to savour and cherish th...e moment. The question is, how can an athlete do this? How can they signal this trigger? Well, it’s the progression within their mindset of what competing (playing) is all about. Athlete’s need to develop their thinking pattern from a results focus - to a development focus. That is going from; I don’t want to lose; I can’t fail to; no matter what happens, this is another learning opportunity, and I’m going to enjoy the moment. Again, easier said than done, I understand, but this ‘mindset progression’ can be learned! #winningmindset #mentalstrength #mentalskills #coaching #athletemindset #coachingmindset #sportcoaches #athletelife #coachgad

We place so much importance on the outside that we lose sight of what’s happening on the inside. Athletes and coaches focus so much on technical and physical development that they forget the mind runs the show. A player’s thinking is what drives the proper execution at just the right time. It’s no different in everyday life. Our experiences as individuals and the lens in which we look at those experiences set our belief system. It provides a path for decision making.... Athletes, coaches and every one of us need to know how to stop, reflect and change the inner attitudes of our minds, which manifest itself on the outside. By doing this... - Athletes will find higher levels of confidence and athletic performance. - Coaches will find improved levels of emotional control that lead to better decision making. - Each one of us will learn to have a more sensitive and inclusive outlook. This is the power of brain training! Don’t ignore your brain. #braintraining #performancepsychology #socialchange #sensitivity #mentaltraining #mentalskills #mentalstrength #athletes #athleticperformance
Most can relate to the statement, ‘I wish I knew then what I know now.’ It basically states that time and experience is a good teacher. The good news is that you can accelerate learning by becoming more self-aware, which is taking the time to have an honest look internally. An athlete could look at his/her strengths and weaknesses and then set a course of action accordingly.... Just the same, anyone can look internally to see what they value and then set a plan of how to bring this out into the world. #diversity #inclusion #mentalperformance
