For the past three years I have been working hard to improve my energy awareness and healing skills. I have been translating this knowledge and awareness to my yoga practice. You can use these skills for self-healing (at all levels) or for healing others. Please pm me if you have an interest in a weekly or monthly intuitive yoga based healing class where you will learn to read your own and others' energy.

Namaste fellow yogis and yoginis. Shobana (Sarah Wall) and I will be heading to Mother India soon to visit the school, help build the next two classrooms, be yoga students again, and enjoy a hiking adventure in the Himalayas (one of my favourite places on earth). While we are there, we will make plans for a fall yoga retreat. Costa Rica was pretty amazing, so that will be top on our list for consideration, and of we course we love India. There is also a new place in Nepal that we have been checking out. Please let us know your preferences. We always keep our prices very low to make our trips accessible.

Are You too Busy to Be Mindful? There is plenty of evidence confirming that mindfulness is good for us, but why don’t we practice it more? Part of the reason is that mindfulness seems mysterious for many people, and part of the reason is that it can be hardhard to actively feel your emotions and reactions, and to do the tough things you need to do to stay healthy in body, mind and spirit. But what if it isn’t as hard as you think? What if you could easily incorporate mindful...ness into your life rather than struggle to fit a mindfulness practice into your already busy life? What is Mindfulness and Why Should I Practice it? Being mindful is the act of being present in your own body. This, in turn, allows you you to notice how your everyday life impacts your body, mind and spirit. When you are not present, you lose connection with yourself and others. You stop being able to access your intuition and are less able to notice your reactions to daily events. As a result, you lose the ability to proactively deal with day-to-day situations. Instead of fixing problems when they are small, you are forced to deal with them after they escalate into high pressure or unhealthy situations. Incorporate Mindfulness Into Your Daily Routine The good news is that you have many opportunities every day to practice mindfulness. You can choose to be mindful when you walk your dog, commute to work, walk to your office from your car, or when you make dinner. Without making significant changes to your day, you could start on the path to better physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Just minutes a day. Reallythat’s all it takes. You begin by committing to being mindful for a predetermined length of time. For example, if you walk your dog for 30 minutes, you commit to being mindful for 5 minutes of your walk, or until you hit a certain geographic location. You can gradually increase this time. If you normally use an iPod, turn it off. Then feel. Feel your feet on the ground, feel your breath, feel the muscles in your legs, and feel the air on your skin. Notice your thoughts. As your mind wanders, bring your awareness back to your body and how you are feeling. At first it might be hard, but you will get better at noticing that your mind is wandering and bringing your awareness back to yourself. The Payoff Eventually you will be able to bring this skillset into your office, your relationships and other situations. Knowing, and paying attention to your thoughts, emotions and physical sensations will help you to identify problems and set boundaries at work, experience your relationships more fully, and even identify, and prevent, potential sports injuries before you get hurt. My long-time retreat partner, Sarah Wall, and I are planning a retreat in Costa Rica in November 2016 or Mar 2017. We LOVE India, but it is such a long trip (40 hours door to door). Costa Rica is much closer, and has much to offer. We have found a retreat centre run by an Akhanda yoga graduate who lives in Costa Rica. ... We will have affordable (but nice) accommodation, daily yoga at a gorgeous location, and the ability to lots of fun activities like hiking, biking, surfing, etc. You can also choose more relaxing things like massage, reiki, etc. Please let me know 1. If you are interested in joining us for the retreat; and 2. If you prefer November 12-19, 2016 or Mar 9-16, 2017. It has been a while since I posted and much has changed for me. Due to circumstances beyond my control, the space in the Thoburn Mill turned out to be the wrong space to teach yoga. As a result, I have taken a job in the employee engagement field--a job that takes advantage of my project management and coaching background. It is my first job since I left Nortel in 2002! Now that I am getting settled in, I will start re-engaging with you again:-) Thank you all for supporting me in yoga and in coaching and keep in touch to see where this evolves.
