After I was declared in remission the second time, I was completely lost...What was I supposed to do with my life now? Everything had changed... and I didn't want to go back to the old '"normal". How was I going to bounce back? Sound familiar? If you are wondering how to cope, I've been there, I feel you... Recovering is hard, and healing takes longer; but you don't have to go it alone! After my second cancer, I decided to help fellow survivors as best I could. I call this... my re-mission :) I put together especially for fellow survivors a compendium of the practices, tools and techniques that helped me the most in my path to recovery. Now, with the world in the state it's in, I've decided to offer this online. For as little as 149$C, you’ll have access to 6 hours of video and audio lessons, science-backed tools, and a downloadable workbook for your at-home practice. Plus you can follow the course at your own pace, from the dedicated portal, as many times as you want! After this course, you will have in hand some very powerful techniques to help strengthen your resilience and help you bounce forward! Come and jumpstart your recovery journey with me! :) #cancer #cancersurvivor #cancersupport #survivor

Let's talk about PAIN... UGH... So many of us, after surgery and treatments, are left with pain and discomfort, like an unwelcome guest who overstays their welcome... Pain takes a huge toll on our quality of life: it makes us want to shut down, our brains become foggy, we want to stay in our safe zone, we disconnect. Did you know that among cancer survivors, over 35% of us report chronic pain after recovery? Most of us are told to just "live with it", as though pain is a ...condition for being in remission. That's the irony about cancer: you never feel the illness until you get the treatment. But... is pain really a necessity of recovery? I think there are alternatives to a life of pain after cancer. In my latest blog post, I explain the mechanisms of pain in our brain, and tell you of my own experience in moving beyond it. https://solarcoaching.ca//12/08/pain-that-unwelcome-friend/ #Cancer #survivor #cancersupport

Let's talk about anxiety ... Where are you on this scale today? Many of us who have received a cancer diagnosis will start the journey in survival mode. Some of us experience a period where we don't know what to do, what to think, and during which our emotions and bodies are on constant roller coasters. Some of us get stuck there, along the way. If this seems like you, you are not alone. I've been there, and I know what it's like. ... I've learned that it's important to embrace this time as much as we can, and welcome the unwanted into our life, if only for a little time. Even negative feelings are informative. Then we can start moving our hearts and mind towards the greener areas of the scale. While we allow the feelings to temporarily inhabit us, we can also keep in mind that they don't completely rule over us. Here's what i do when anxiety returns: I take a break from what I'm doing, and take a few deep heart-focused breaths. I wonder: "what could this emotion be telling me about the current situation or my ability to cope with it?" Then, after welcoming the signal, I ask myself what I can concretely do about the situation or about my response to it. You can't change the fact that you have this condition or illness, but you can change the way you live it. Start with a tiny thing, or thought and remember every little gesture, every little change, counts. You have that power. ** if you are having a hard time, or find yourself consistently on the orange or red parts of the scale, have a look at the website in bio for resources, or a program that may be right for you. *** thanks to Colorado Health Workers Association, who have developed this informative chart! #Cancer #survivor
