Looks like this page will be shutting down in the next few weeks, but I'll update on my profile soon as to why (I'm working on something here... Blame social media lol)

Since 2012, this place has felt like a second home. You literally feel the energy the second you walk inside. An energy of passion, dedication and electricity flowing through the walls. Where steel is forged and warriors are made. Then COVID hit, and it got quiet. It wasn't the same, not in a bad way, but like a caterpillar in a cocoon. Dorment and docile. You could still sense the passion, that electricity that generated each time a class or session was on, but it was quie...t. Luckily, we all knew (cuz we'd talk about it), that the energy would come back stronger and more fierce once we returned, and dammit, we were right. @gofitnessnation has become more than a second home to me now. It's where I go to fight. To push. To thrive and be even better than anytime I thought I was at my best. I know we're not out of the storm yet, but I know we will get out, and be even stronger, even better when we do. Now's the time to prepare, strategize and do what we can to come out thriving. The docile cocoon we need to unleash the butterfly. The ashes before the rise of the Pheonix. Any other cool analogies or metaphors you can think of... Now's the time to make them happen! (Luckily I know a place you can go to help make it happen as well haha ) #AlwaysEvolving #CoachSpiderOnline #CleanSlate2020 #OvercomeAnything

I started lifting weights when I was 15 years old. As a fifteen year old, you most likely start working out because you want to look good. That was definitely the situation for me. When I went off to @humbercollege for Fitness and Health Promotion, those aesthetic goals got sidetracked as I learned more about the different avenues in fitness and competition, and became more concerned with my athletic performance and movement patterns than how I looked. Up until 2020, that was... my fuel for anything I did physically. How was what I was doing going to help me with kickboxing, or obstacle course racing, or diversifying myself as a trainer? This was my concern. Funnily, this year kinda brought me back to that fifteen year old mentality. I'm not sure how much of my current training is due to COVID-19 (and the limited training equipment I had at home), or my inflamed ribcage situation I had back in July, or what else could have me looking at my aesthetics, but I am starting to understand why people get on themselves about their physical appearance. Anyway, I'm not saying aesthetics is more or less important than performance or health (although I do feel like health should be on everyone's goal list, but that's just me), but I've always been of the mindset that aesthetics should be a byproduct of training rather than a goal (even now that I'm noticing my physical appearance a bit more). With that said, this is just my opinion, and if you're training, you should be training your way for YOUR goals. That's something I've always done and will continue to do, even if my goals change. So, with all that said, I bought myself some early Christmas presents, and tagged some of my favourite brands here. I'll admit, I'm excited to add these into my collection, and even help motivate me in reaching some new goals for 2021. ...k I'm done now. Happy Monday! #AlwaysEvolving #CoachSpiderOnline #CleanSlate2020 #OvercomeAnything

I issued the challenge on Monday. My deconditioned a** got to 7 rounds unbroken lol (tried getting to 10, but I may need to try again in a bit) So once again, it's a ladder: 1 Push-up, 1 wall kick 2 Push-ups, 2 wall kicks... 3 Push-ups, 3 wall kicks etc... See how far you can go without stopping. Tag @coachspider and @lebertfitness Special Thanks to @makhlouf.roger for the recording #AlwaysEvolving #CoachSpiderOnline #CleanSlate2020 #OvercomeAnything

Mask vs beard... I'll admit, they're both growing on me lol So since this mess all got turned up like 1000 notches back in March, my motivation, discipline, consistency and anything else that got me into the gym (or the studio at home) to workout, has gone to sh**. We've all been struggling in our own ways, trying to navigate through these weird times, but I've also been trying to see what would get me to workout outside the gym, as this was not a strong point for me pre-pand...emic, and one of the biggest reasons as to why I'd pay for (a) membership(s) somewhere when I knew what I had to do. I've tried daily challenges. Online workouts. Things that used to work for me before when I couldn't get out to the gym (running, biking etc.). I found these would work for a short while, but would ultimately have me searching again for something else. Funnily enough, it took having to go to the hospital and not being able to workout for a month to kick my a** into gear... That's definitely not the point I'm trying to make here though lol. ANYWAY... The point I AM trying to make, is you have to find what works for you, but also be willing to change it up at a moment's notice if all of a sudden it's not working. Humans are remarkable creatures and one of the things we do best is adapt (literally what your body does when you workout... grow and adapt to a new stimulus). So on this Tuesday where I had to work late and ended up skipping the gym entirely, that's my advice. Keep trying. Keep identifying what works and what doesn't, and keep adapting. Roll with the punches, go with the flow... essential do what works for you. #GoGetIt #AlwaysEvolving #CoachSpiderOnline #CleanSlate2020 #OvercomeAnything @ Fitness NATION
