Festive light tradition returns to Riverview RIVERVIEW (N.B.) The Town of Riverview will sparkle once again this festive season when Light Up Riverview returns ...for a fifth year. Owing to the ongoing pandemic, there’ll be no official Mayor’s Light Launch this year, however, the annual display of holiday lights will be back to illuminate the Riverfront Trail in Riverview. The festive atmosphere welcomes residents and visitors alike to experience the Riverfront while it glows below a sparkling forest. More than 40,000 lights will light the path this year and residents will also see an exciting new addition to the set-up, which has become a popular destination for many families to enjoy a winter walk with a difference. Walking, rolling, snowshoeing and fatbiking along the trail are all encouraged. However you get here, Light Up Riverview is a must-see holiday experience in New Brunswick. In the coming days, some special elves will be stopping by Riverview to turn the lights on so be sure to keep your eyes on the Riverfront Trail and the Town’s official Facebook page! While we are sad not to be able to organize our usual Light Up Riverview switch on event this year, which is such a wonderful community event to kick start the festive season, residents and visitors will still be able to enjoy this wonderful tradition, said Town of Riverview Mayor Ann Seamans. For the past 5 years, Light Up Riverview has brought holiday magic to our Riverfront Trail. Nothing fills me with joy more than seeing families bundle up and walk together under the glistening lights. After what has been a truly challenging year for so many, I hope this year’s display will bring joy and happiness to everyone. Users are reminded of trail etiquette during the pandemic and should continue to follow guidelines from public health including physical distancing, hygiene and mask wearing when physical distancing is not possible. Where possible, visitors are encouraged to avoid popular times (walking the trail during quieter times is also a great way to get the perfect snaps for Instagram!) As second wave hits, do we have enough supplies? | Telegraph-Journal As a second COVID-19 wave takes hold across the Northern Hemisphere, the provincial governm...ent says it has 300,000 swabs for testing, and "at least" four months' worth of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). "There are currently no issues with the amount of laboratory testing supplies in New Brunswick," Department of Health spokesperson Bruce Macfarlane said in an email statement to Brunswick News. "There are approximately 300,000 swabs for COVID-19 testing in the province to date. Regarding PPE, the Province of New Brunswick covers at least four months of currently expressed needs. "At this time, we are not experiencing any difficulties in terms of supply chain management. We will continue to work closely with the federal government and the other provinces to ensure we have access to these supplies in New Brunswick." Early in the pandemic, New Brunswick, like almost every jurisdiction in the world, scrambled to secure PPE and lab supplies. The federal government now handles most procurement for provinces.
