This is why we cant stop fighting. Charging the officers is not enough. We need justice. We need reform. We have to continue to make our voices heard & say their names. #blacklivesmatter

This is such a big deal, I've had so many experiences with the medical system and have had to self diagnose myself multiple times. It's so bad

Content note: transphobia in comments Sex and gender are different things. Sex is anatomy, hormones, chromosomes: the biology that gets used to label us as mal...e, female, or intersex. Gender is our own knowledge of who we are: the mental, social, and emotional knowledge that tells us whether were a woman, a man, non-binary, agender, or something else. People of all genders give birth and become parents. People of all genders deserve to feel safe, supported, and loved as they do.

TRANS PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS EXISTED Trans women are REAL women Trans men are REAL men Nonbinary people are VALID ... Transphobes and TERFs (so-called 'trans-exclusionary radical feminists') aka FARTs (Feminism-Appropriating Reactionary Transphobes) will be blocked.

Coary McKenney DCL 04.02.2020

Not just an American problem.

Screw J.K. Rowling and her transphobic commments. If your feminism isn't trans inclusive, it isn't feminism. TERFs - trans-exclusionary radical feminists - are... anything but feminist! TERFs oppose the rights, equality and safety of trans people, especially trans women. TERF ideology at its core is simple and bigoted. TERFs believe that trans women are not women, and that including (or even recognizing their existence), is a "danger to women." Despite claiming to be feminist and left-leaning, TERF ideology often aligns with conservatism. TERFs deliberately seek to dehumanize trans women and have worked to deny trans women the right basic healthcare (check out the scary 'religious exemption' rules), and work to exclude trans women from anywhere that may be considered a 'women's space.' If you're thinking - oh, this is just a small group - that's not the case. In the United Kingdom, TERFs have effectively succeeded in re-framing the question of trans rights entirely around their own concerns about female erasure. In the United States, TERFs are working with conservatives to advance an anti-trans agenda. Last year, a House Commitee held a hearing on the Equality Act, which would add sexual orientation & gender identity as protected classes under federal civil rights law. One of the people invited to speak by Republicans was Julia Beck, from a TERF group, WoLF. At the hearing, she said "If the [Equality] act passes in its current form as HR5, then every right that women have fought for will cease to exist, In 2019, TERFs also spoke out against the re-authorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), citing, "VAWA was created for women and girls. Not for those who feel like or identify as female" TERFs DO NOT BELONG in our movements. Need an alternative to TERF? Try FART - Feminism-Appropriating Reactionary Transphobes.

May 17th marks the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (#IDAHOBIT). This year's theme is 'Breaking the Silence' 2SLGBTQ+ youth often ...find safety and community in physical spaces - whether its their schools GSA, a drop-in program, or even just informal hangouts at the 2SLGBTQ-friendly coffee shop. During this pandemic, many youth are having to live in homes where they feel unsafe or unable to be themselves. Breaking the silence may not be an option for many. So on this day, as we consider the impacts that this pandemic is having on those most vulnerable in our communities, let's think about ways we can challenge homo/bi/transphobia and support those most vulnerable in our communities. Here's a starting point from us: - Reach out to 2SLGBTQ+ youth in your networks - send a text, ask how they're doing, offer supports (as possible for you). - Share resources and groups; many 2SLGBTQ+ youth programs are now offering virtual spaces and supports. - If you have funds or other resources, please donate them to those in need or an organization that is supporting 2SLGBTQ+ communities. Please share LGBT YouthLine's Peer Support HelpLine info with youth in Ontario. We are available Sunday-Friday 4-9:30pm by chat and text. www.youthline.ca

Hey community, I know for many of folks, you may have never met anyone who doesnt identify as a woman and who is pregnant. Its new and uncharted territory fo...r many, and I understand that. As a pregnant trans man, Im almost always excluded due to the lack of gender inclusive language. This is becoming increasingly challenging for me as my emotions ramp up. I cant change many things in this world, but my hope is that I can raise awareness through showing up as my beautiful, masculine, male identified pregnant-self and help yall learn how to be more inclusive. Ive attached this awesome gender neutral birth chart created by Tynan Rhea to help folks understand what it means to use gender inclusive language as well as examples of how to use that language. This language impacts so many people, and by making a few changes in the words you use, you could as well. So please, educate yourself and help educate others so that we can make this world a more inclusive place to raise our children in. Please share. And please change your language. And please, stop asking if Im going to be the mom or dad. Im a seahorse! Image description: an informational poster style with colorblocks attached in the middle by an icon showing the symbols for female/male/transgender. The top grey title box says Gender Neutral Birth Terms & How to Use Them; shows two pregnant silhouettes, left with a natural Black hairstyle and pronounced breasts; the one on the right having short or shaved hair and a small or bound chest. Below it: REMEMBER: Never assume the language people need. Ask folks and clients what their pronouns are and what language they use when referring to their pregnancy or parenting. In the top right grey block: WHO NEEDS IT? Folks who birth and do not identify as women, such as trans men nonbinary genderqueer agender bigender In the top left yellow box: WHAT COULD I SAY? pregnant folks/people birth person/parent person in labour labouring person chestfeeding parent/co-parent families partner In the bottom green box: HOW DO I USE THESE IN A SENTENCE? some pregnant folks find prenatal classes helpful DJ coparents with their partner Sam is excited to be the birth parent Ali enjoys chestfeeding his baby a labouring person may find dim lights soothing end description.
