I’ve been working away on a modest house for a young bachelor on a beautiful city lot with a full Garry Oak canopy. Open living plan has double height ceilings with a mezzanine that looks over the living space and courtyard! Front of house has a deck that will be like sitting in a treehouse Backyard will have a stand-alone office and sauna. I would live here!

Ripping the roof off of a tired old existing house and changing the cladding can do WONDERS... especially on a gorgeous waterfront property like this one. After 6 months working with amazing clients on this very special project, I’ve been hiding away this week to give it a final push to permit drawings. Last thing to do is model the spectacular terrain. 1 acre on a 45 degree hillside slope on Prospect Lake. . . . Back in December the client asked me to propose what I would do on this property given their program. I knew instantly what it needed to be. I tested it through zoning and proposed it to them in January. It has only g...otten better over the last few months. . . . Cantilevered main volume held up with an exposed steel truss. Green roofs, raised rooftop garden beds, green walls, patios and decks. Exposed south side. Raised boardwalk over the green roofs to get to the entry. Massive skylight. Concrete, steel, glass and shou sugi ban charred cedar siding. Unapologetically modern. Amazing young clients. I can not wait to see it built. Huge honour to get this opportunity. See more
