N253AK 737-900 . Often in aviation size and distance can be distorted. The real size of a winglet is sometimes dramatically different to our first impression. P...lease do not try this when the airplane is in motion or airborne Alaska Airlines released this statement: Around 2 p.m. PST, Alaska Airlines flight 1367 from Las Vegas to Portland was preparing for take-off when the pilot noticed an individual advancing towards the aircraft. The pilots notified the tower. Law enforcement was dispatched and able to apprehend the individual. Our guests and employees are safe and we are working with law enforcement. The plane has returned to the gate for a full inspection.

TOP STORY / Today, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rescinded the order that halted commercial operations of Boeing 737-8s and 737-9s. The move wi...ll allow airlines that are under the FAA’s jurisdiction, including those in the U.S., to take the steps necessary to resume service and Boeing to begin making deliveries. Following two deadly crashes in which 346 people lost their lives, the #737MAX was grounded in March 2019. Boeing statement: https://aeronewsglobal.com/boeing-737-max-cleared-by-faa-t/

A customer asked me how much it cost to make a table.... I answered him: $ 1500 He said: So expensive for this job? I asked: How much do you think it would cost... you? He answers me: $ 800 maximum... That's a pretty simple job right? !" - For $ 800 I invite you to do it yourself. - But.... I don't know how to. - For $800 I'll teach you how to. So besides saving you $700, you'll get the knowledge for the next time you want - It seemed right to him and he agreed. - But to get started: you need tools: A table saw, a planer, a top, dormants, etc... - But I don't have all these equipment and I can't buy all of these for one job. - Well then for another $250 more I'll rent my stuff to you so you can do it. - Okay, he says. - Okay! Tuesday I'm waiting for you to start doing this work - But I can't on Tuesday I only have time today. - I'm sorry, but I'm only available Tuesday to teach you and lend you my stuff. Other days are busy with other customers. - Okay! That means I'm going to have to sacrifice my Tuesday, give up my tasks. - I forgot. To do your job yourself, you also have to pay for the nonproductive factors. - That is? What is this?" - Bureaucratic, tax, vat, security, insurance, fuel etc. - Oh no!... But to accomplish these tasks, I'm going to spend more money and waste a lot of time! - Do you have them? You can do it to me before?" - Okay! - I'll make you all the material you need. Truck loading is done Monday evening or Tuesday morning you'll have to come by 6 loading the truck. Don't forget to be on time to avoid traffic jams and be on time - At 6??? Nope! Too early for me! I used to getting up later. ... - You know, I've been thinking. Y ' all better get the job done. I'd rather pay you the $1500. If I had to, it wouldn't be perfect and it would cost me a lot more. When you pay for a job, especially handcrafted, you pay not only for the material used, but also: - Knowledge - Experience - Study - Tools - Services - Time to go - punctuality - Accountability - Professionalism - Accuracy - Guaranteed - Patents - Sacrifices - Safety and security - Payment of tax obligations No one can denigrate other people's work by judging prices. Only by knowing all the elements necessary for the production of a certain work can you estimate the actual cost. Like and share this help to support craftsmen and entrepreneurs.

Today, October 15, 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the first scheduled international air mail route in North America. It was from Seattle's Lake Union to ...Victoria Harbour. The mail was carried in Bill Boeing's CL4S seaplane and the pilot was Eddie Hubbard. Mail, originating in the Eastern US, travelled by train to Seattle and was then flown to Victoria Harbour to be transferred to ships outbound for the Orient. See more

"Hey, Ridley, ya got any Beeman's?" On this date: October 14th 1947; Chuck Yeager chased that ol' demon that lived beyond the barrier! Chuck Yeager broke the so...und barrier on this date in 1947, flying the experimental Bell X-1 at Mach 1 to an altitude of 45,000 ft. Two nights before the scheduled flight, he broke two ribs while riding a horse. Afraid of being removed from the mission, he went to a veterinarian in a nearby town for treatment. On the day of the flight, Yeager was in such pain that he could not seal the airplane's hatch by himself. Friend and fellow project pilot Jack Ridley rigged up a device, using the end of a broom handle as an extra lever, to allow Yeager to seal the hatch of the X-1. The X-1 rocket-powered airplane was droped from the bomb bay of a modified B-29 Superfortress bomber, where it glided to a landing on the dry lake bed. XS-1 flight number 50 is the first one in which the X-1 recorded supersonic flight, at Mach 1.06 , 313 m/s, or 800 mph peak speed, at an altitude of 45,000ft. That was the day the demon on the mach meter ceased to exist... Sierrahotel.net

We travel over to Brooklyn for today’s #ThrowbackThursday. Here is a colorized photo from 1940 of Coast Guard members who were stationed at Floyd Bennett Field.... Beginning in the 1930s, the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy operated from the airfield. It was one of the busiest military airfields in the country. However, the Navy ceased operations there in 1970 and the Coast Guard left in 1998, the same time period as the departure from Governors Island. Floyd Bennett Field is currently part of the Gateway National Recreation Area's Jamaica Bay Unit, and is managed by the National Park Service. USCG Sector New York
