Art Decoaren’t we all waiting for Deco to come back in style? . Anyhow, like I said yesterday several very different rings as of late. This customer requested a ring to have an Art Deco influence over the design, that’s why we started with the square model. From there we bounced back and forth with a few designs for the monogram and settled on a very period style of letters. Scotch (Barley),Beer (Hops) ,Bass guitar and a Straight Razor filled out the rest of the request. On...ce again it was quite a bit of back and forth with emails , slowly moving forward and agreeing on the various elements of the design. Both settling on this final design. I have been told it was well received and I am happy with it as well. . Your ring can be ordered through the link in my bio. . Variety is the spice of life and I have it in spades. The next few rings are all vastly different from one another. All were designed as to the customers wishes. The mysteries of the engraving process continues to teach me daily but the process of designing rings using each customers unique set of wishes is something I particularly enjoy. This lovely customer wanted a gift for her husband and wanted to bring all of the elements and symbols that are important to him into one c...ohesive ring. We had the archaic (purposely left in its original version) image of his Irish hometown crest, the image of Newfoundland and of Ireland and finally Hadrians Wall , which runs through his hometown. A rather tall and challenging list. The idea of the Wall was the challenge . How do you represent a wall? Well, I sat on that for a few days and then decided to go and look it up for inspiration. The first image I saw had a parapet and immediately I knew how I was going to do it. Each of the bricks in this ring are sculpted and have an uneven stone finish to them. Although I was a little nervous at first as to how this would come out, I was thoroughly pleased in the end. It was a monumental task to complete because between the time that thte order was placed when it was due I had that terrible cold last autumn. . If you want your own ring to be different and to be able to incorporate images that are important to you , follow the link in my bio to place your order. . #signetring #signetrings #signet #canada #handmade #familycrest #crests #tattoo #tattoos #artist #vancouverbc #newyork #losangeles #toronto #britishcolumbia #madeincanada #goldring #ringstagram #instaring #calgaryab #yvr #newfoundland #ireland

My computer broke down a few months ago and the combination of sickness, and Christmas rush, I just couldn’t get back to posting. Time to move forward. This little signet came in a few months ago from a customer in Victoria ,B.C. I’m glad I got to do it. I like sailing ships. My Grandfather sailed on the last tall sailing ship out of Vancouver , B.C. The City of Alberni. He sailed to the South Seas and their cargo coming back was lumber. I don’t know what they took down. I... have lots of photos to post and I’m looking forward to diggin back into here. Thank you for dropping by. #signetring #signetrings #signet #familycrest #crest #crests #engraving #engraved #canada

Envision : to picture to oneself. . It cannot be overstated how important this skill is to anyone involved with making or creating. Thinking back upon my time learning this craft, I can remember all the various plateaus I've encountered. Periods in which I felt my advancement had stalled. Each plateau ended when I stopped and took the time to examine what was stalling my progress and then taking the time to envision how I wanted to go forward. Example: my dotted background... texture.... For a long time it looked sloppy. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it looked sloppy. I started to envision what it would take to make it better. I started to pack the dots tighter and tighter. Now I'm happier with them. Every advancement in any skill unfolds in this manner. Take the time, envision it better, move forward. . This design request came in and to be honest I wasn't sure at first we'd be successful in achieving a satisfactory result. Like pushing off from a dock, we went forward , not knowing how it would turn out. Upon completion, I was happy and so was the customer. I've posted this before and it didn't garner many likes. I understand why. It doesn't have the usual pizzazz that a scrolly ring has. That's just fine with me and the customer because it captured what was important to him. He had won an award and wanted to commemorate his achievement with this ring. . Thank you all for following along with me. . #signetrings #signet #signetring #handmade #handengraving #handengraved #engraving #engraving #workinprogress #wip #behindthescenes #tools #tool #instajewelry #losangeles #newyork #toronto #howto #canada #britishcolumbia See more
