Pokrova - The Protection of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary - is a religious, national, folk and family holiday.... It is also Ukrainian Kozak Day which represents the historic protection of Ukraine. Today is the symbolic founding date of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). On October 14, 2014, was also proclaimed a national patriotic holiday, the Day of Defender of Ukraine!
