I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree. Joyce Kilmer Wednesday, September 23, 2020 is National Tree Day. Nature’s natural cooling system and air purifier, trees reduce erosion and pollution, provide protection and shelter for a variety of wildlife, and supply food for humans, animals, birds, and insects. Of course, they are lovely to look at during all four seasons. Today and every day, make time to celebrate the beauty and benefits of trees.
Cheer-up! Cheer-up! Cheer-wee! Robin’s happy song is the first heard before sunrise and the last as the sun sets. This versatile omnivore eats berries, fruits, insects, and up to 14 feet of earth worms. Robin is the only bird with a human name in honour of its friendly and sociable nature. Cobourg Ecology Garden’s paired robins, Ramón and Ramona, work together to defend their territory, guard their nest, and raise their young.

Monarchs are arriving and loving Cobourg Ecology Garden!
Beautiful Queen Anne’s Lace! This is one of our hosts for butterflies and other important pollinator insects that contribute to our food production. Queen Anne’s Lace may be confused for Giant Hogweed. Rest assured the volunteers at Cobourg Ecology Garden check daily for dangerous invasive species. If you think you’ve identified one, please advise one of our volunteers or email [email protected]
The trees in Cobourg Ecology Garden extend a huge thank you to Town of Cobourg and the Town Arborist, Rory. The loan of Treegator slow release watering bags will ensure our young and older trees continue to bloom in incredible colours.
Sunflower Hugs from the garden.
We are thrilled that Cobourg Ecology Garden is enjoyed by so many people. Walk the paths. Enjoy the colours, sounds, and fragrances. Please be aware that there is no Geocache in the garden. We respectfully ask that the sheds be left alone and please do not dig in any of the areas. Thank You.
Beautiful busy little bee, pollinating is a full time job. Message from Bees - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTAxJ0aKpU4
Would you build your own Hobbit Hole? Ole Jakob Nielsen and his children loved the fantasy world of the Tolkien universe so much that they decided to bring it to life in their own back yard. At the age of 73, Ole built his own Hobbit Hole.
